I ran up American Fork Canyon this afternoon, just to see if the OHV trails were open (they're closed until enough snow melts). The gate was open, so I decided to drive up to Forest Lake trail and see how it looks.

It's about the same as last year, at least until this spot, which locals will recognize right away--there's no better place in the world to show off flex, not even in Moab. I should've had my front discoed, but I got lazy.

Unfortunately, I only had the crappy camera in my phone with me, but you get the idea.

Utah guys, we need to make a full AF Canyon run (Forest Lake and Mineral Basin). Of course, you need a lift, decent tires, some skids, and preferably a rear locker. But there are a couple of easy trails I'd like to explore, too.

Nice shots Troy!! Looks like you finally got some tires on that beast

We do need to do a full AF run sometime now that the trails are opening up with the snow melt.

Hopefully no more ATV accidents!

I don't have a lift or decent tires, but I have skids. Would I need a rear locker if I have ESP?
What is this talk about an ATV accident?

Hmm...interesting. Yeah, that would probably work fine. Do you have front hooks? If so, Forest Lake would probably be completely doable.

Looks like Troy beat to the link for our trip report.

It's been a year or so since I went up the Forest Lake trail, so I don't know how much it's changed, but I did do it stock. I scraped up my step bars that I had on previous to my boulder bars but they hung way down anyway.

So, how about a quick run this weekend? You can make from the Tibble Fork Reservoir to Forest Lake and back in about 2 hours. We could either go up for lunch or do a late afternoon run, after all of the chores are done.

I have to haul butt up tp Pocatello early Sat to Drop a vehicle at one of my retailers. My plane lands back in SLC @ 2:14 then I have to take a cab home (no friends). So I can do a late afternoon deal on Sat.
I have to drive to Denver Sunday AM and I will be gone until Friday PM. The next day (Sat 9th) I get back onto a plane and fly to pocatello to pick up the very same vehicle and drive it back to SLC. That Sat is shot.
Sunday the 10th and Sat 16th are free days.
After that, I am not in UT again until the end of July.
I would like to go whenever our schedules allow.

I actually have to work this weekend so my only hope is for the 9th or later.

Well, I plan to be at Tibble Fork Reservoir at around 4 pm today to hit Forest Lake. It would be great if you could join me! (Or anyone else, for that matter.)

Sorry I have been dormant for a while. I have been out of town for business and attending weddings, funerals, etc. I'll be sure to keep an eye on the forums here because I have been itching to get out for a while. I look forward to running Forest Lake when it is not so muddy.
