After years of paying exactly twice as much for every Jeep product (including parts and labour) prices are finally coming down.

The GC 3.0 CRD is on offer for £24.590 ($49.000), that's the same price as we used to pay for the KJ ltd.

The KJ 2.8 CRD Sport with leather interior and colour coded bumpers is on offer for £17995 ($36.000), that's the same price as we pay for a base Patriot.

Will I get one.........eh.. no as I can still remember last time I went to a couple of Jeep dealers when there was an offer on a KJ, they just offered £3.000 ($6.000) below list price for my current KJ, so in the end I was paying more than the full price.

There is a European plant at Graz in Austria but they only make the GC and Commander, the KJ comes direct from the US.

On every KJ (Compass, Patriot, Wrangler) sold over here is a profit margin of way over 100% even after deducting shipping costs and 17.5% tax.

The same thing with parts, they just change the $ sign for the £ sign and hey presto 100% profit again.

I'm sorry to hear about that! I'm not familiar with all the models sold in Europe. How do those costs compare to other comparable SUVs sold there? For example, do they sell the Nissan Xterra there?

It is no differnet in Canada. I have been looking at the new grand diesel and i found one for 56k up here but lookin on the jeep usa website i can get the same one for around 38k. All those prices are good when the canadian dollar is 60 cents to the american but now at par it is a lot cheaper it buy any vehicle in the us. Actually it is chaper to buy almost anything now.
I have heard of a lot of people going across the border and buying vehicles there and saving 10-15k, it is so bad that gm and toyota dealerships wont sell new cars to canadians if we come across the border.

The KJ Cherokee is prices in the same region as the Landrover Defender and Freelander.

Jeep dealers over here are not interested in brand loyalty, the prefer a new customer over an existing Jeep customer as all promotions are targeted at customers without a Jeep as trade-in.

Trade- in prices at Jeep dealers are £2.000 - £3.000 ($4.000 - $6.000) lower than list price but they sell them used way above list price.

So in my case the Jeep dealer would not only make £3.000 ($6.000) profit on selling me a new KJ, they would also make £3.000 ($6.000) on my old KJ, that's £6.000 ($12.000) of my hard earned cash straight in the Jeep dealer's pocket before I have even left the showroom.

So not only is there a 100% profit margin on every KJ shipped over here, the Jeep dealers are also ripping us off.

This is not called doing business anymore, this comes closer to highway robbery and this kept me from buying a new KJ for the last 2 years.

I normally buy a new car every 2 years, I would have bought a New KJ in 2005 and I would be interested in a new one again around now so instead of selling me 3 Jeeps they sold me only one, who is stupid now?

In the Netherlands we pay about 60% tax on a new car.
Here a new KJ 3.7 Sport will cost you $ 56,000. Car: $ 22,400 Tax: $33,600.
Because of the low $ we get a $ 5,000 discount. So now the price will be $ 51,000. The KK is not yet for sale here.

I did a check on base prices (before tax) and they are all about the same in Europe.

Netherlands 24.740 Euro
Germany 24.613 Euro
Belgium 24.710 Euro
UK 24.472Euro

So that's about $35.000 before tax in each and every EU country.

I know about the ridiculous taxation system in The Netherlands that not only adds 19% consumer tax but also adds 34% luxury tax (on top off the price including the consumer tax, so tax on tax) that brings the price of a KJ to an idiotic 41490 Euro ($58.612)

But beside this Jeep is selling the KJ for $35.000 (before tax) in Europe while in the US they cost around $20.000 and that’s not right.

Thanks to the weakness of the US dollar (and corresponding strength of the Canadian dollar), it is said that car prices (and other stuff) should come down in Canada... we'll see.

Porsche has cut Canadian prices 10% across the board.

No, don't count on it as it is an easy money-maker.

For example, BMW 3 series and Mercedes C class are in the same price range as a KJ over here ($35.000) and because they are high quality cars made from the best quality components put together by German engineers they struggle to keep that price down to that level.

But a Jeep is build much cheaper with cheaper components and sold in the USA for $20.000 and just hiked for profit towards the $35.000 we pay for it.

So we simply pay way to much for the quality we get.
