Zinc is popular in compounds used to enhance lubrication; quite effectively too.
As I recall, the most popular forms have all but disappeared due to toxicity issues.
Perhaps this type of formulation is an attempt to find a suitable substitute.
BTW, it doesn't take much to improve the lubricity of diesel!
