Nah - it can replace zinc dialkyldithiophosphate in yer low-sulphur (sulfur) motor oils - it's a thickener\detergent\rust preventer for crankcase use - can even make better greases to be used in food-service mechanicals - dunno how catalysts will react to the sulfated stuff, tho - the castor oil is added lubricity to enhance the hi-pressure qualities - all kinds of info on the 'net about calcited greases - check it out....................

Searching on the web, Calcium Sulfonate is the key ingredient and there are many scholarly articles on the application of Calcium Sulfonate in oils and fuel additives.

Zinc is popular in compounds used to enhance lubrication; quite effectively too.

As I recall, the most popular forms have all but disappeared due to toxicity issues.

Perhaps this type of formulation is an attempt to find a suitable substitute.

BTW, it doesn't take much to improve the lubricity of diesel!

Ever heard of RXP?
Invented by some guy in St. Pete FL. He seems to have good data and a
variety of tests done on different vehicles under varying conditions both
long and short term. Sells large quantities to a few shortline railroads who
claim reduced fuel consumption. I tried it once when I had the Jetta (gas)
and didn't notice enough of an improvement to make it cost effective.
But...
Independant tests seem to say that RXP is 85% Acetone!
If you have followed any of threads about using Acetone you will find
very mixed results. Mythbusters tried it and said it hurt fuel mileage. I
tried it in both the CRD and the Caliber and found no significant change.
Many will tell you that all acetone does is help clean out the fuel system and
improvements can be found in older vehicles but only for the first few
applications.

The point is, if this CA40 was sooo good, you would see it being used by
large transportation companies. Also, if this RXP stuff was sooo good all
the BIG railroads would be using it rather than a couple of short lines.

Personally, I'm willing to give this CA40 a try. I would also like to run a
sample of it though the GCMS and FTIR at work (RXP too).

Currently I run PowerService in the CRD. I'm not sure if it helps fuel
mileage but it costs less than a dollar per fillup and gives me added peace
of mind.
