I would a 80% chance that cutting the plastic to get it off wouldn't help.
I think what you should do it is get a torx screwdriver that fits the tailight screws, it is usually thin so you may be able to sneak it in the gap between the tailight and the door, then unscrew the taillight and pop it out on the left side, then you will have access to the door hinge, with the spare removed and the window open you then might be able to pull the door out enough to either get it to release, from the latch, or get it far enough out that you can then safely remove the door panel and mess with the linkages.
This should give you an idea of what it looks like on that side, iirc there are only 2 screws per side of the tailight, and then you can get access to the hinge bolts, i think this is your best bet, and is the least drastic action at this point.
