Just hazarding a guess, here, but reduced engine power = higher rpm in each gear to get the job done = more fuel burned - less TCC lockup = more hydraulic slip = more fuel burned - plus, new-for-'06 ESP detunes engine output for sensed slip event, so may require more throttle to compensate = mor....... well, you get the drift, right?

There are two bad things I have noticed post F-37, and one good one.

First, the torque management program does not let as much torque through when locked up-- but quickly knocks the trans out of lockup, producing that revving whenever you add go pedal at highway speed (often this is followed by a downshift too). This is most obvious when climbing. It used to hold lockup when going up grades, but now does not unless I apply pedal very slowly. I hate that. It should leave the thing locked up when I push on the pedal for a bit-- only drop it out of lockup if it is going to downshift (as if to go to a passing gear). That should be a rare event at highway speed.

Second, it does rev like crazy now when the go pedal is pushed hard. It used to rev slower-- but more push in the seat. This is subjective and goes by my memory, but it is what I have noticed. It revs to red line much quicker than before.

The one thing I like-- is the shift points under normal day to day driving are moved, and seem more sensible. It does not try to shift/lockup right at 54-55mph anymore. That was annoying and meant you could not do the speed limit without it constantly shifting back and forth. I think the better shift points may help explain the mileage increase as well.

The mileage depended on your driving - the F37 hurt acceleration but improved the lockup
if you do a lot of stop & go - you got worse mileage - if your doing 50-60 mph highways I think you got better
on 70mph highway - no change - trans locked before or after.

We got the Q Loader working last night and put tried two tunes out. The first tune was the first stab that Alligator tried. It had a bunch of low end grunt but laid down on the top end.

The second tune was one that Charlie tweeked a bit. It definitely had more upper end grunt. He said that the second tune should get better economy though. I think I liked the 1st tune better but I can always switch between the 3 tunes (stock, mod1 and mod2). I am going to experiment and drive them and see which ones work better.

Both tunes are supposed to have the EGR turned off. I had no CEL. I want to verify that the EGR isn't working just to make sure. How could I do that? I do have Vag-Com, it is capable of loggin data in OBD II. Or, could I unplug it and see if I get a CEL?

We took the ECM and the TCM out of the Rig. We took the ECM out of the rig to have a back up. The TCM didn't have a M with a circle around it on it anywhere. We are going to have to get some help on this.

What we need is to have one of Charlie's "tools" hooked up while someone gets their jeep flashed from the DC scan tool. Charlie's "tool" will see what it going on and get more info.
Does anyone know any cool techs at the Dealer?

Another question. What is the rail pressure relief valve set at?

Prolly confusing because of the big BOSCH letters cast into the aluminum heatsink\housing enclosing the ECM (I got one with SEIMENS cast into it) - are no such dead giveaway on the heavy aluminum heatsink\housing the TCM is snuggled into - prolly made by that big house up in the north-east that does all the PCM\ECM\ECU\TCM\TCU modules, driver modules, etc, for the Big Three, and umpteen others

TCM prolly not a Motorola product, in and of itself - buncha chips are Philips - bunch more are ST\Thompson - uprocessor is Motorola - shoulda tried talking to it

BTW: I do hope you're onsite with your radio-linked laptop, logged onto the lostkj's CRD forum, so nothing gets lost in translation - any 'mediator' should be up close and personal with understandment of all involved technologies for best results, if you can ascertain my meaning.....................

I certainly do, but lets get about 3 other people in here passing that message along and then see if we can understand it.

Is it the "Q Loader," Charlie's" Tool" that gets wired up to the "ECM" and "TCM" to modify the engine computer controller software and transmission shifting programs?
Why not ask a dealership's service tech for a copy of the flash, they are not over paid and should be easy to gather information from?
No idea of file size or compatible connector to download onto laptop or memory stick.

There's a dealership out of business, and they're auctioning off everything. There's some scanner stuff, anything that I can look for to get, and help out on this Pre F37 Quest?

I'm not familiar with chrysler scanners, more familiar with GM.

Give me numbers, discriptions, anything and I'll see what I can dig up.

I don't want to go in buying signs and other junk for people, If there's somthing that I can get to help with PRE F37 I will.

Please keep within Pre F37

I'll look for it. Is there a good price range to bid with?

Prices on eBay can get crazy, so not much reference - see what they're asking for the kit

Anyone doing anything with this?
Do we have to reach out to the 6 cylinder people, across the water?

My work has been crazy busy. I should be in contact with Charlie soon to talk it over. I am pretty nervous doing too much without having the Suncoast. The suncoast is a chunk of change too. I'll try to give you another update soon.
