Take a look at this thread that I started yesterday:

What Works (and Doesn’t Work) on an Unlifted KJ

It should answer a lot of your questions... It will also apply for you with a 2.5" lift. That is what I am doing. Once you are lifted, 31x10.50's should fit fine.

Edit: That is strange... I answered before the question was posted. HeHeHe.. :?:

Im looking to put a Rusty's 2.5" lift on my 02 KJ and will of course be upgrading the wheels/tires (want to run 31x10.5)... 2 questions:

Backspacing: 4" 4.5" I want to push the tire out a little bit

15" or 16" currently it has 16" rims but I like the look and extra tire of a 15" rim. Will a 15" clear the brakes?

Only 15" steel wheel will clear the calipers, cant use alloy/aluminum wheels. Overtime, you're going to sag with that lift. Spring rate is same as stock. Get OME HDs 927 fronts /948 rear and that wont be a problem. As for rubbing, you will need to do some cutting.
