jeep jeepsters must be different, my crossmember bolts to the body with 4 bolts per side instead of 3. and my transfercase and tranny skid go on with the same 2 bolts through the same holes on the crossmember. i didnt have to make any new holes, i just drilled straight up through where the nutzerts were so i could use a longer bolt and washer/nut
Yours is a '02 with the 45RFE trans, his is a '04 with the 42RLE,and the thread starter has the manual trans.

lol yea, lots of variables! its crazy! lol

i had a rustys style tranny skid, its from an 05-07 im guessing, the front engine crossmembers must be different between 02-04 and 05-07 because you know how the rear lower a-arm mount crossmember, how its flat in the middle under the oil-pan, and then curves UP by the a-arms? my engine-skid rear left bolt mounts up on that right where it starts to curve.

PICS tomorrow! if you read my posts clearly(not pointing anybody out, just saying so nobody yells at me for "what the heck did you say? haha) they DO make sense! its hard to explain in words! its NOT jibberish! i know it looks like it, but its not hahah

yea thats how mine is, both rear engine-skid bolts line up with my engine skid/crossmember, one rear engine skid bolt also goes through the front of the tranny skid, but the other front tranny-skid mount just gets sandwiched between the engine skid and crossmember, and doesnt get a bolt, which its not going anywhere, because 3 bolts are in it(tranny-skid), and the front tranny-skid mount(the one that doesnt get a bolt through it) is still sandwiched between the engine skid and crossmember

Exactly, mine was the same minus the tranny cross member.

From what Ive read and seen on the cross member with the 45rfe, it doesnt clear the exhaust at all. jerbacher had to make some pretty big spacers to get his to clear the exhaust. Not sure if he needed to drill any holes or not..

That's true. The guy I bought my tranny skid from had beat the tar out of the skid where the exhaust passes above it so that it would fit without spacers. Worked really well... till I bent the skid offorading. Now I either have to use a lot of washers, or run it upside down.

LOL thats how mine is, jon gave it to me for free, he said it rattled against his exhaust, so i put those small spacers and it works perfect. i thought that clearance under the exhaust was made by mopar, i guess jon beat it with a sledge, but it works for me! hahah

i have smacked it a good number of times and hasnt budged AT ALL, its somewhat close to the exhaust, and hasnt changed, so it hasnt moved any closer to the exhaust after smacking it against rocks. IF it ever does bend bad, ill get the skidrow, but i have been very happy with this one!

Sounds like you should break out the drill.

Get some clamps and line up the skid plate to the postion that fits (with clearance) and then make some holes.

Instead of drilling holes in the cross member i just drilled holes in the skid plate where i needed them to be. Also, Bashed the skid with a hammer to clear the exhaust pipe. In the front i only drilled 1 hole with 1 bolt through the tranny skid but compressed the skid between the front skid and cross member with the 2 bolts to hold it in place. The skid row is a better skid though.
