i thought with the franky, you could do 31" and 33" if you bend the pinch weld?
i'm disappointed now :/

What size do you have? a 235-70-16 is 29.1 and if you want to go bigger 265-75-16 is the max and those are about 31.8 to 32, 33s no way! even with 32s you are going to be driving a dog due to gearing unless you regear to 4.10s gas mileage will suffer as well. Best all around tire is the 245-75-16 bigger tire but don't lose as much power/mileage
Oh you need to do the pinch weld even with most 245-75s

So why are you disappointed

I'm thinking 238/85/16 when I get my lift on :)

I can handle the pinch weld, but would rather not do any altering if I don't have to...I also don't want to invite any more rust than normal either screwing w/ the plastic liner.

If 29's didn't look too bad, it's something I would consider for the mileage & power factor, I'd really like 30's tho.

When I put the 29's on my Kia, it battled to get to highway speed...& to keep it there was another struggle. I put the stockers back on last fall & what a difference. I want a good quality lift w/ the perfect size tires on the liberty, as if it came from the factory that way.

A 30" tire would be a 255/70/16
245/75/16 = 30.7"

You want 245/75-16s.

They look good with an OME lift, you're not going up drastically in tire size, and you've got a lotta good choices in that size for a wheelin tire

The stock tire on the liberty is 29", or at least that is what I am running (245/70/16)... Why do you think I want 245/75/16? Total height difference of the tire is .9" and total width almost the same... That gives a extra height of less than .5" :S I'm thinking I'de rather a bigger tire, the 238/85/16 gives me 31.8", same width pretty much but much more height, actually just shy of 1.5" more height under the rear diff... This would give me a lift of at least 4" (2.5" min for franky + 1.4" for tires).... However most people seem to say the franky gives 3 or more so I could get lots of extra body clearance. My main argument for tall tires is that they (as far as I know) are the only way to increase hieght of the diffs, and this would give the liberty a really nice advantage... Of course, my math could be wrong so please correct me if so... I will bow my head :)

Now as far as available tires, everyone in my jeep club swears but these truxus mt tires, and they are avaible in the 235/85/16... as well as far as BFG both the TAKO and the KM2 are available in this tire size as well, so I'm sure there are tons available.

So you are going to regear as well then since going to a 235-85-16 is going to kill your power and your mileage. You are always looking for the cheap way out yet??????????????????

regearing is a option, but likely not for a while... What is the cost of the regear anyways? How big of a drop are we talking?

gearing, which is another thing I'd like to avoid...

245/75-16 I thought may rub...if not, that sounds like a plan. I was also looking at 17" wheels, I assume 245/70-17 would be the same height as the 16's...

Right now it's between the 16" Moabs & AR 17" Assault black centers...but alas, I am female & reserve my right to change my mind 50 times more before I buy

When are you getting it done? Give us the details when you do. With the knowledge you are gaining you should really make a gear change "How to" thread with a summary of all needed info.

I did the 245/75/16 MT/R's. So far, the only trimming that I have had to do is the little splash/chin spoiler thingy under the front bumper. When I was backing up rapidly with the wheels turned hard, the tread caught that thing.

Several people have done the 235/85/16. It does give you a touch more height & the narrow width might stop rubbing issues. Perhaps a clevis & extra rear isolator might be in order, though.

No pinch weld issues or is that pounded out of the way already?
