JSC, I shouldn't bother fitting those rings, you need to take the topplate of again so compress the springs again etc. Compressing the spring more is not going to improve your ride quality, believe me...been there.

Fit some 1/4 Rusty plates on top of the strut. Done.

And:

501's pic has been added to the lift FAQ.:D

or if you have the stock top plates get the Rocky Road plates for just a touch more lift, theirs are a little thicker

Tom's right, I forgot about those. They are 3/8 but then you will run into a little problem: the OEM studs on the topplate will be to short. You will have to fit longer ones....

Just a thought:

What is the benefit of fitting Daystar extended topplates to an OME setup?

Imo spring lenght (with the cars weight on it) will be the same as with stock top plates...

All the top-plate does now is push the shock down / in?

You do gain more droop this way....but do I want that much droop...

yeah I know Ill have to take it all apart but it adds spring rating, For front strut springs, on a 350 lbs spring you will add 175lbs of force on the front.

You really think it will add too much?....now you have me doubting whether I should do it or not lol it would be nice not to have to compress the coils by hand again, I probably wont even need it if I do a top plate since my front bumper is a good 20# less than the ARB.

You have the HDs don't you jsc? You should be fine or just get one of the top plates and throw on top easier than breaking down the springs again, don't even have to pull the spring all the way out. I can mail you the pattern if you want to make one as well

Sorry to make you doubt JSC, but making your spring 'stronger' also makes it less comfortable...

If you get the Rusty's you do have to have a drill....:D

well what are you working with now?

I have the Franky premium II, but I also have a CRD and a Trail Ready bumper at 110# plus a M8000 winch I just need a lil push to get er back up a tad.

got this from JBA: http://jeepinbyal.com/prod-JBA_Spring_Ring-589.aspx

It puts more pressure on the spring for compensating for the heavy bumper.

I spent most of my time in January 08 re engineering the 4 inch strut, we made a new strut tower mount with 5 spring settings. (4 spacer rings can go between the spring and strut mount.)

Setting

1. 4” lift base line 22.50 inches from center line of axle to under side of fender flare

2. 1 ring = 176.7 lbs of force over base

3. 2 rings = 353.4 lbs of force over base (CRD)

4. 3 rings = 530.1 lbs of force over base

5. 4 rings = 706.8 lbs of force over base

Examples:

§ If you have skid plates and a ARB bumper, you would use the #2 setting on the tower

§ If you have a CRD, you would use the #3 setting on the tower

§ If you have a CRD, Skid plates and a ARB you would use #4

This system gives you the owner the ability to customize your ride height, compensating for the extra weight you added to the front of your KJ.

I still need to figure out how to get my front end up a tad. Tom I sent you 2 PM's did you ever get them? you asked me for measurements....

When All J's was coming up with the Franken lift they found that adding a .75in spacer inside of the coil over along with the OME HD spring they had way to much pre-tension inside of the coil over. The Daystar upper plate allows the .75in spacer to be added with the OME HD spring without too much pre-tension being in the coil over assembly. This also allows the upper A-Arm to contact the spring which is why All J's added the bump stop for the upper arm.

The Daystar place will not add any lift other than the little bit you get since that upper place is thicker.
