Those snorkels look cool and I am sure that they deliver the goods!
But, for the $900.00 to $1100.00 that one shop here wants for a snorkel, they are out to lunch.
Most every snorkel equipped 4X4 in town are total poser's, mall crawlers, or call them what ever!
Not a scratch on a skid plate or a speck of mud underneath. Let alone extended breather lines.
I've been 4X4 ing for a long time and have never needed one and done plenty of water
crossings as well.
I like what the guy's in their Suzuki Samurai's around here use, and works very well.
(I should add that several CJ, TJ, XJ, etc. Uses the same home made snorkels as well around here.)
Either 3 inch or 4 inch wire re-reinforced RV sewage hose, with a K&N or other cleanable air filter
hose clamped on. Or 3 inch black PVC plumbing pipe with a home brew air intake as well as an
exhaust pipe extension with a hinged flapper cap on top so gasses can come and go as required.
Back yard innovation instead of another credit card receipt!
Not to mention that some of the home made versions look way more cooler than what you can
order off of the internet!
they told you it would be that much for a snorkel for the KJ??
they dont even sell them for the KJ, Dirk at DPG Off-Road is the only person in the US who sells them for the KJ, and IIRC they are $350 or so
Remember now, I live in B.C., Canada! (B.C.= Bring Cash!)
British Columbia Canada.
Everything that is specialized for a vehicle in Canada (Even more so in British Columbia) is at least 50 to 150% more money!
After Provincial tax and Federal Goods and Services tax, and Brokerage fee's, and currency exchange rates, my Al's A Arms set me back very close to $600.00 dollars Canadian!
Then there is the Frankenlift.
Detours Backbone.
Spider Trax wheel spacers.
Etc., etc., etc.
So yeah, One of the local shops here wants between $900.00 and $1100.00 Canadian dollars for a snorkel!
Another local 4X4 shop wants $1400.00 for four (4) OME coil springs and 2 struts, and 2 shocks!
Brutal isn't it?
Cheers
