well, they can't do that anymore can they, you know.. teach kids life long lessons such as how not to shoot yourself in the foot both in the literal and technical aspects

kid gets "caught" knowing anything about a firearm and the teacher/principal/etc whoever freaks out and the kid gets expelled

simply because the kid went bird hunting with his uncle, mentioned bird hunting when the teacher asked them 'what did you do this weekend' another student who hunts as well asked what gauge shot gun he used, kid responds and 4 hours later is sitting at home suspended for 2 weeks

I promptly took that kid and spent about 4 days teaching him how to track deer, a few more days watchin him fling arrows down range, a few days at the firing range - ever seen a skrawny 12 year old send a round down range from a garand yell WOAAAH! and ask for another round?

I also made sure to explain to him that him, myself, his dad the RO at the range who basically gave us rule of the roost and a few free rounds for anything the kid wanted to try and the nice guy that let him burn like 30 rounds of reload .32 through his laser sited revolver, are all unique and rare people these days.. the other ones, are simply different, and often called senseless or 'those who lack reason or common sense' and aren't to be worried over. Made sure he watched what he said, did as he was asked and silently didn't take crap from anyone and if he ever felt something was amis or wrong that all he had to do was talk to his dad or I and we would get to the bottom of it

I used to seriously condemn homeschooling - thought kids really needed the whole public school experience

now days i'm not so sure - at what costs do our kids get their education - if you can even call it that?
