Yet another tire ?

I need to buy tires before winter, and have been chewing over the various lifts. I almost have the wife convinced that she needs a Frankenlift. That being the case, I will have to save my pennies and postpone the lifting. However I don't want to buy another larger size of tire once I get the lift, therefore the question: Will a 245/75/16 tire fit if I pound the pinch weld, and/or heat gun the inner fender? Choices are Bridgestone Revo, and General Grabber AT. I have 245/70s on now and have never had any rubbing issues. Also, the Revos don't come in an LT rating in the 245/70 size for some reason (which is something I want).

I think Sir Sam did 245/75 unlifted - not sure how that's working -

but all of the photos I've seen have no space for the front tire to move - any bumps and you'd be hitting something.

Darby's looked a bit better - he tried 235/75/16 - bigger than stock - smaller than the 245 and it worked well unlifted and reasonable after he put the lift on.

also check the tread width - the 235/245 refers to section width - the widest part of the tire body - but that's not what rubs
the tread rubs - most companies don't tell you a tread width - and those that do can easily vary 1/2" for a given section width. you might get away with a 245 that has a 7.6 tread width - but rub constantly on a 245 with 8.2 tread width.

height on the one I have are 30.5 "
researched height on a 245X75 is 30.6"

So it is a tall tire and the Austin guy is right - its the tread that rubs- With a 215X85 a narrower thread is used in a taller tire. Even though I have a puny 1" lift I get NO rubbing - even with NO pinch weld pounding--

I had problems with the tpms on this tire. The low pressure light will stay on at 60 psi wanted to put rubber valve stems but dtc wouldn't do it. went to a p rated... but they do fit and ride wonderful

Ummmm TPMS on my Limited wheels give no trouble at all!!!!

These commercial tires work real well off road too and I air down to 18-20 lbs and TPMS warnings do stay on but air up usually to 40 lbs after wheeling gets everything back to normal.

And I can say I got full articulation from all four and at different steering positions and happy to report no rubbing!

TPMS changed in 2006 AZ may have a 2005.

Nursecosmo - Big O A/T's 215 x 85 x 16 Load Range D (60 PSI) on stock Limited Rims. They are tall (30.6") and skinny but do well on these Az trails I have run. My mild lift (to keep mileage up) limits me before these tires fail.

Cowcatcher - I did not realize TPMS had differences 05 to 06-- there are so many subtle little difference for these two years of KJ CRD's!

I ran 235/85/16s on my 2002 lifted KJ and I thought they were as "skinny" as I would go...a 215/85/16 would be a real "pizza cutter". Hercules and Toyo both make 235/75/16s (just a hair under 30"). The Toyo Open Country HT is a very good street tire that only weights about 2# more than stock tires. Hercules Terra Trac ATs were really good off/onroad tires...look just like Toyo Open Country ATs...similiar to Bridgestone Dueler ATs.

No rubbing with the Toyo HTs stock or lifted. 245/75/16s will rub the front sway bar at full turn (which would only be at very low speeds).

Whoa....my Toyo Open Country's don't look like first or second generation Dueler's and they are heavy. I also don't like them much for winter. I may replace them before winter and while they have worn well they will be replaced with a tire that does better in snow and ice.

Yet another tire ?
