Well, it's been a long time. But now, it's finally coming back together.
After looking for parts to rebuild the engine, I just couldn't afford (or justify affording) all the separate parts for this project. So the Jeep sat dead since this thread was posted.
Ma Mopar originally didn't have replacement engines when the Liberty died. So I was poking around looking for a used engine. With NO luck there. Either too many miles. Too much $$$. Or some combination of both. Used engines were costing upwards of $6000 for 90kmi! B.S.!!!
Eventually, Ma Mopar started back making reman units. So I placed the order last October. And the engine finally showed up at the end of March (just a touch over $3000). The injectors, turbine, and transmission work were done LONG ago (with one exception). As was the ECM reprogramming (thank you GDE!). The Injectors were massaged for an increase of 20% flow. And the turbine...well...you'll just have to trust me.

The torque converter (custom), valve body, and input assembly were my transmission mods. I believe that this tranny will be up to the challenge. I'm guessing that it should be somewhere around the 300HP mark at the flywheel. I'll get it dyno'd some day to verify it. The only performance mod outstanding is the exhaust. That will happen soon enough. The total for this project (not including my labor and my tears), is approx. $6000. Give or take. And that's not including the front receiver, rock rails, and rook rack setup I thought would be nice to add while it was being worked on.
Anyway, it's all back together. I'm just waiting on a couple custom items, then it's ready to fire! Dear God, I hope this thing works! I don't think I want to do this again.
