Tonight, when I turned on the headlights, the blue high beam indicator would not come on. The high beams worked, but the dash indicator light was out. In addition, the dash light control knob was non functional and all the dash lights had defaulted to full bright. Rotating the bezel did make the overhead work, but was otherwise nonfunctional.

When I turned the car off at my destination and started it for the return home. All was OK.

Don't you love non-reproduceable problems! I turned on the rear washer today and the wiper didn't start. Turned on the rear wiper...fine. Later tried the washer again...no problem.

This has happened to me a couple times. Dash stuck at full bright with unresponsive dimmer. A reboot always fixes it. :?:

Jeep libertys are possessed. Its the BCM that's the culprit. On my wife's 04...sometimes id look into the garage at night and the interior lights would be on. All doors were closed, all switches off. The lights would just turn themselves on and off. The dealer replaced the BCM under warranty and said that Jeep Liberty models were electrical nightmares (and chrysler products in general).

BCM is the Body Control Module. And it's a known sore spot for Jeep Liberty models (and other Chrysler products). Will make your Jeep seem like it's possessed. Seriously.

Some issues are tied to inconsistent battery voltage (like the one where the BCM locks and unlocks the doors and liftgate seemingly randomly). Recently, mine starting flicking the headlights once after completing the left-hand turn out of my neighborhood. It only does it after the left turn signal is used, and it only does it once :)

If I have my foglights on, when the stalk releases after making a turn, the lights blink once. I only noticed it turning right, don't know if it does it when I turn left.

Yes you do, but you don't have the "Advanced" TPMS... You have the idiot-light version like all of our CRDs have.

The problem is when you drained the battery, the computer lost track of which tire is the spare. That light won't go out until you take the spare and put it on a wheel, and drive around for a while at over 15mph, so the computer can re-learn the numbers of the tire sensors.

Stupid system, isn't it? Thanks a lot, Ford for lowering their tires to unsafe levels INSTEAD of putting better springs on their Exploders... And thanks to morons who never checked those pressures AND had enough money to hire bloodsucking lawyers to force these idiot-light systems onto the masses.

I would be HAPPY to have a REAL TPMS system with numbers... But I can't figure out how to get that function activated in my Limited CRD, so it displays on the EVIC. (I did upgrade the EVIC to the one that supports that feature - It displayed the first time it booted, and never again)

Another with the headlight flicker. Almost appears to be stalk switch contact related and it's done it since new.

It's definitely an eye opener even though it only blinks for a second  What was that?

Thanks, guys, for confirming the "lights blink" issue. As the driver, I'd see it only occasionally, and when I'd say "did you see that" to the passenger, she'd always say "see what?".

Wasn't as bad as my wife's Cadillac CTS which would kill the dashboard lights for a second or two as you were cruising along. No rhyme or reason. (Or engage the Stabilitrac and try to take you into the median while going 55mph down the highway).

I have the pressures shown on the EVIC. It was my understanding that you either got the "right" wiring harness from the factory, which had the receivers in the wheel wells, or you were SOL on the retrofit.

I'd agree with you, except I know I have the tire sensors (seen them) and I've also seen the system from the computer side with an AutoEnginuity scanner. AE very nicely doesn't support any of the functions I really need, and it doesn't seem to have the ability to read the exact pressure info... So I only can know the tire sensor serials and their error counts, among other useless info. But I can see far more than just what an idiot light would show, and from my checking back when I installed the EVIC, The part numbers for the sensors are the same. So we all SHOULD have the right stuff, its just not turned on.

When you first turn the key on, all the idiot lights should cycle so you know they work. The TPMS light is in the upper right-hand corner, yellow / orange and it looks like a saggy tire.

Edited to remove unrelated rant.

OK it's not just me. Thought I was seeing things.

I wonder if all of these problems aren't related to the 'multifunction' switch. It straddles the steering column and handles turn signals, lights, fogs, and wipers.
