Maybe I'm missing something here...

If I'm correct, we're talking about the sensor that hangs vertically from the air box rubbing on the Samcos? Easy solution: loosen the front side worm clamp, turn the hose to the right slightly, tighten clamp. Boom! No more rubbing....
I checked my right side hose this weekend. That sensor is nowhere near the hose, no signs of rubbing anywhere. 2 years running Samco hoses, so far so good.

I don't know about you guys, but I would not want that steel braid stuff in my engine bay. It rubs against everything else, sitting there like a giant vibrating file, eating away at anything rubber or plastic that touches it. I had another car with a braided steel covered fuel line that came around the valve cover, it sagged and pulled tight against the aluminum and wore 1/16" deep into it in a few thousand miles.

I agree with your concern. However in my particular situation I'm not having any rubbing issues on the turbo side that some have reported, and since the samco can no longer expand with boost due to the extremely tight steel braid I don't have to worry about it touching/rubbing something under extreme boost conditions either. Plus I'm seriously considering the GDE turbo kit which would add even more boost and cause more expansion . . . However, I do need to do something on the driver/intake side near that AC connector area.

For the record, I have over 42k miles on the original prototype samco hoses without issue.

Trust me, someone is working on that right now ;)

My Freightliner has alot of Aluminum tubing, with silicone connectors for vibration. On the outlet of the Charge air cooler it is black reinforced rubber

ooooohhh shiny! :SOMBRERO:

IMO, however, although the sensor won't rub through your hose, I'd now be worried about the abrasive stainless steel tubing damaging your sensor.... I still say that these hoses can be turned out of the way of the problem area. Nothing else is needed.

GDE turned their hose as you note. And also moved the whole filter box further to the outside. Seems the fit on each vehicle is slightly different. I'm not worried about the ss addition rubbing anything, Ive run miles of ss in my track car projects... though it probably wasn't necessary. It should eliminate the ballooning effect while under boost some have noted. BTW, was in Flag skiing a few weeks ago. Spend lots of time in naz...

Yea, I didn't have to move the filter box, just turned the hose ~10 degrees to the right. I also put a small piece of ethafoam between the rear portion of the upper hose and the plastic air box hose, as that was a particularly tight fit. Hopefully there are no other problem areas.... :?

I'm up in Flag every couple of weeks for work. Good times, so long as I-17 is open

You would be surprised what the vibration of a diesel can do. I always have to be on the look out for rub throughs on my Freightliner. I had an air supply tank for the air horns. The plastic inner fender wore a hole through the steel tank. You don't see those kind of problems with gassers so much.
