Why do you say the Rock Krawler is junk. And any other person that comes across this, let me know what lift/mods that you have done to your jeep.

Anyone out there blown CVs with 3.5" of lift?

Sorry another follow-up question for those who said to re-gear. I assume that would be 4.10s right? Again I am a little new here so just wanted to clarify what you have done to re-gear.

Not entirely true. You could swap to 3.55 if you really don't want any power! :SOMBRERO:

Dana/Spicer is the only company to make the front D30A gears,no one else makes them and regular D30 or HP30 gears will work. The rear 8.25 has many companies that make 4.10's for them,Yukon is the best choice. For the front you really have 2 options for a locker/LSD and that is the Detroit True Trac or the ARB airlocker. The rear you have more choices but the Detroit Locker or the ARB is the best 2 choices. The gear/locker install for the front diff will be pricey due to the front diff will need to be completely removed to do the install(like 6 hours of labor alone).

Didn't all CRD's come with 4.10's already? (mine did)

...and I remember a guy on here who has (IIRC) 235/85 (!) tires under a CRD.

CRDs in the US were only available with the automatic transmission and 3.73 gearing.

Back to the lift question.

I am running the rusty's spacer lift with no problems. Definately not the ride of ome's but on a budget it works. I am willing to bet that I have wheeled as hard as anyone else and not had issues. just gotta make sure you get terra flex bump stops.

I also have quite a trip home. My family lives just over 500 miles from me. I have no second thoughts about jumping in the libby and heading for NY.

Back when the KJ's were newer and had lower mileage, many people were happy with the daystar spacer lift. The general consensus was that it was a quality product from a quality company. The problem with them or any spacer lift is the weak KJ front springs. Only replacing the springs is going to give you a permanent solution as the stock springs WILL sag. Then the spacer lift is mostly useless. Most of us look at it like this: why spend $300 now when it will not lower the cost of a real lift when the springs die? And fewer KJ's have springs that are good enough to spacer lift with each passing day.

Rockkrawler: Rockkrawler marketed a 7" KJ lift that resulted in KJ's being practically rendered as scrap or having to be SFA'd to avoid being scrap. They kept selling it for years after the problem was known. They are a crappy company. Many of us have been here 5-6-7-or 8 years. We may not be able to say "Jimbo had a problem with the Rockkrawler 3.5" , but we can recall reading all of the posts about this product or that product. Members have had trouble with it, rockkrawler is a company with no morals, and it adds up to being a product that folks do not recommend.

Wanna go the cheapest route with something that is in updrade? Ome 927's & Boiler's plates on the front. Dayster rear spacer. Choice of shocks, probably Rancho to save $$$. You can run 245/75's with no issues. If you are set on a spacer lift and don't mind taking a chance on your front springs being crap, get the Dayster front & rear kit and have at it.

Skyjacker H7088 shocks are cheaper than ranchos ($33 vs. $67), and I know of a couple people on here that run/have run them with good results. That's what I got, I will let you know how I like them in a week or so.

Hopefully they are making them better than the 2 rear sets I had on the XJ back about 6 years ago , One lasted one weekend wheeling trip, other one lasted three weeks, replacements came, and blew one of them so had three out of 4 fail in about 5500 miles plus way soft I thought.

So wheels from newer Rubicons will not work? I have a 2004 KJ but the guys ad for his Rubicon tires says "Their fit a 2009 to 2010 Jeep." I guess they will not fit?
