Thanks, it's been a fun project, all work done by me. My favorite mod, other than the winch, of course, is this:

17"x30" massive sunroof. Probably the most time consuming install outside of the lift. Will never own a vehicle without a skylight, again. When you have views like this every day...

...you want to see all of it. It is a bit of work to keep clean, though.

Marine,
Unless you are darn good with a wrench and have a heated garage available to you I would pass on a CRD for Alaska. Unless it was a second car and it was a very good deal.
The cold and diesel are at odds with one another. Parts can get difficult at times too.
Here in Maine, I still have the original battery, I plug in and wait for the glow plugs to work, have Alaska blanket and still wish I had more heat in the engine compartment. A coast down a steep hill and my temp gauge goes down. Fuel mileage goes way down, expensive additives get added. Gassers (Patooie!) have their place.
We have 2 children in the Marines, they might get the diesel to use in TX or CA, a gasser 4wd for AK although I hear 2wd is big there too. My daughter graduates from Parris Island Feb 26, getting excited to make the trip.
I want a JK diesel unlimited. Not sure if we will ever be able to buy one.
Everything is illegal here.
Semper Fi.
I've never been accused of modesty, but that tends to come with being a Jarhead anyway,

I'm passing fair with a wrench. I installed the lift, wired and mounted the winch, cut and installed the sunroof, painted interior and exterior of the hardtop, wired and installed the moose lights, completely removed and rewired the stereo, speakers, added subs and amp, added swaybar disconnects, swapped a radiator, belts, hoses, water pump, starter and just about all the other skills Jeep owners learn in the general process that is being an off roader. I'm fairly confident in my abilities, and have a killer tech a phone call away. (who can conveniently be bribed with fishing trips up here

)
The heated garage will be a reality soon, but we haven't bought a house up here yet. That is one of my criteria. I'll install a couple of block heating elements in the meantime.
Congratulations on the newly minted Marine. I enjoy the dubious distinction of being the only Marine in my family.
