Rear seat is not straight up and down. Leans back so don't measure at the bottom of cargo floor for space. Subtract about 2-3".

Box needs to be near the backof te seat not the rear door. Depending on the sub, most should be sealed not ported.

I know the rear seat is angled, I had that problem previously with my bins.

The subs will point slightly up and towards the corners and will sit 6" or more from the very back of the cargo area.

In SUVs the most efficient way to get good sound transfer from the back of the vehicle to the front without muddying up the sound is corner loading the subwoofers towards the rear of the cargo area.

also, have not decided on sealed or ported yet. I am going to use Marine Deck Plates (round holes that seal, and are removable) and experiment with the sound of ported vs unported.

Unported boxes give fast punchy bass that is generally good for Rock and roll, metal, etc. While Ported boxes allow for long slow hits that are more suitable for Hip Hop, R&B, Jazz, etc.

Having the port so far away and on another plane of reality can dramatically affect the way it interacts with the woofer.

The dimensions of the smaller box are not to scale.

I should have mentioned that it is based on a pre-fabricated shell that a friend of mine is giving to me. It has a slanted back to match the back of his trunk. the ports are already in place, I will be replacing them with deck plates. also, the box is much smaller depth wise. it will be much closer to the back of the woofer. the way it is now it has nice punchy bass.

thats too complex for me. i would still run the sub pointed up (even though its not the "best") and in a sealed enclosure.

I decided to ditch the prefabbed ones and just make two sealed boxes.

It is a lot less complicated than it looks,

Build two identical sealed boxes,

angle them, the way I want them,

build the middle box/cabinet around them to add strength and uniformity.

box done...

then all I need to do is cut a lid into the center. and add the cargo floor, which will have a rudimentary support frame with hinges near the seats
