Looks great Mark. Thank you. :D

Glad you got it so fast. Only took about a week to ship to Canada, not too bad coming from the states. :) Post some pics when you get it installed. :D

If the ones I ordered come in first, I'll mail you one. Can they order one for you?

That's between the assembly Mark's making and the block, right? Have that P/N handy? I forgot I'll need one too

no part numbers yet, but here is where it is listed on moparonlineparts.com:

Mechanical Catalog - 2005 - Jeep - Liberty
Cooling system, Thermostat gasket, Thermostat gasket, liberty - 2.8l diesel - 2.8L DIESEL

http://www.moparonlineparts.com/partlocator/index.cfm?action=getJointLocator&siteid=214954&chapter=&sectionids=8,0&groupid=61869&make=17&model=Liberty&year=2005&catalogid=1&displayCatalogid=0

Like I said, I will include this with the kit...if I ever get any from mopar. lol I think the delay is because I ordered 10 at one time. Squeeto asked me to ship the unit w/o gasket thinking he could get it quicker...and he probably will even though my order went in 2 weeks ago...probably still trying to track down 10 of those gaskets to ship all at once. I tried calling customer service, but they are not in yet today. I'll try again later and see how many gaskets they have and see if they can ship those and send the rest later.

Hopefully this issue will be resolved soon.

Try this gasket part # 05066806AA.

I am just going to make a gasket. I have the gasket material and Permatex already.

It is morning now; I will get to it later today.

I contacted them today via their internet customer service and this is what I got back:

To: mark.kapalczynski@yahoo.com

Mark,

Thank you for contacting us. Your order should be shipping out today 10/7/10.
We will send you the tracking number in a separate email this afternoon

Fingers crossed, but it is looking good. I still have not been able to reach an actual PERSON in the internet department there. I called, they said the internet department wans't in yet, called again, was told to call back at 2pm, called again after 2 and they said the internet person was out for a little bit, took my number and said they would call me back. Not too impressed with that, but hopefully, based on the email I received, I should be getting them soon.

Funny thing is, when I ordered my timing belt stuff ($600.00 worth of stuff) everything went flawless and had rapid shipping. I wonder if they prioratize by $$ ammount?

I'll let you know when I actually get a tracking number.

The boss saw a dozen orders for the same item and figured that they were priced too cheap.
You are going to have to wait until he gets off the golf course and rechecks the price.

moparpartsamerica has been great (same pricing) and they are down in Portland (like 2 hours from me) which I visit frequently so I can stop by the dearlership if I have problems (none yet) AND they ship Fedex, way faster than UPS from moparonlineparts (but they are also on the other side of the country)

Got a message saying my order has shipped. Squeeto, if you want I will mail you a gasket when they come in. I'll let you know when I get them and see if you have got or made a gasket yet.

This is okay.

I have made gaskets before when I couldn't get them locally.
It always seems to work fine.

I really appreciate this effort Mark.
This is going to make my ride warmer this winter.

Hey Mark,
When I go to replace the thermostat (I know, 2 to 3 years from now), what should I torque the nuts to? I promise that I didn't open your stat, I am just making notes for later.

That looks like a winner. Actually the current gasket on my CRD I made myself. The only thing I don;t like about the felpro material that is supposedly for water/oil, etc is it tends to wick over time and as the antifreeze wicks out through the material it leaves a crusty edge around the gasket.

Your material however looks shiny like it may have more rubber content. The material I used was dull in finish and had more paper or fiber of sorts mixed w/rubber I think. Anyway, the factory gasket is a paper like material, so maybe yours will be a improvement. :D

I don;t know if the factory gasket wicked like the felpro material, I don;t recall having any crusty dried antifreeze minerals around the factory gasket tho so probably not. I think Felpro just labeled the gasket material the way they did to sell it and make money so they didn't have to make a water specific material.

Anyway, yours looks good and I don't think you'll have any problem with it. :)

Ha ha, hopefully I won't have anything bad come of this. :)

I hopr to get to all of you ASAP. Hopefully I can start cranking these units out now that I am getting better tooling. My carbide parting tool just came in, this should make the little insert piece a snap now. I think I will machine all 2 feet of the material I have into little insert pieces so I have a bunch ready and that way my machine is all setup for that piece and I can mass produce a bit better. :)

Hey Mark,
When I go to replace the thermostat (I know, 2 to 3 years from now), what should I torque the nuts to? I promise that I didn't open your stat, I am just making notes for later.

Darn it, lol Yeah, I was going to measure the torque spec by gradually increasing the torque on a torque wrench untill the nuts move a little before it clicks to find out where they are at. Forgot to do that with your unit before I sent it. Oh well, I'll have another one put together soon and will check that one.

I basically crancked it down until I saw the gasket material squish a good bit and then went just a little more until the nuts felt tight enough to make sure they do not rattle free.

I will come up with some specs for you all. I still need to post the thermostat and radiator hose vehicle applications for you all also. I have that written down on a spreadsheet somewhere on my PC. Just need to dig through all my thermostat files and see where it is. - One of these days I WILL get organised. ha ha

Tonite and the next few days I am undertaking a huge project of removing EVERYTHING on my garage floor and scrubbing, and etching it to get it ready for epoxy coating. It's been such a pain cleaning up oil, etc on the floor and I finally got motivated enough to undertake this monstrous task. I don't have a shed so everything is going in the house or outside. I bought tarps to cover the mower etc. So that is my priority untill its done. It takes 1 day to dry after prep, and then I epoxy the floor and another 3 days after that before I can use the garage again. I figure better now than winter. It is getting COLD already though, Hopefully it won't snow yet!

Wish me luck!

- Mark
