Don't know if you got this problem fixed. I had similar issue but ABS scanned code said right rear wheel sensor. I replaced the sensor and still had the problem.

I removed rear seats and checked continuity from the wiring harness to the plug at the wheel sensor. Of the two wires going to the wheel sensor, one had a break in continuity. I spliced into the harness with new wire (soldered and shrunk wrapped twice) and then ran a new wire in solid plastic conduit parallel to the existing wire and spliced it to the sensor plug. PROBLEM FIXED.

Seems like the wire to the sensors is very fragile. I pulled a 2 foot section of the wire and it had numerous breaks in it. This explains why my ABS/BAS etc.. would temporarily work when it rained and I got into large water puddles :-)

Hope you find your fix. If you need help, just holler. I still have the seats off and can take pictures of the harness to look at to check wire continuity.

Drewd - if you can, I'd appreciate some pics. I just had this happen to me on Monday morning.

Interestingly, at 18k on my 2007 I had an intermittent issue where they'd go out on bumps and then the system would come back to full functionality. Took it to the dealer and they replaced both right ride sensors...drove off and it did it less than 1/4 mile out of the lot.

Took it back and apparently upon further inspection they determined that the connectors in the wiring harness had completely corroded on the rear. They replaced the connector (so, I am assuming harness?) and all had been well until yesterday at 45k miles. I'd like to check that harness/wiring before I go replacing sensors.

Will do tonight provided I don't get stuck working a 13 hour shift.

I only checkedt the harness from the rear wheel sensors. I'm assuming 06 and 07 wiring harness is the same.

I hope you get it fixed. I sure am glad my 03 came withour abs or any other traction control stuff. I thought it was kind of strange it didn't have abs, but i haven't missed it a bit. :JEEPIN:

I was pretty indifferent, but honestly, I am rather impressed with what the TCS system really does.

I think it works more than I knew it did...it probably doesn't really flag the driver with the trac light until it's adjusting a decent amount. Without it, I find myself slipping around a lot more (even in 4wd) than I did with it. Overall, I am a little surprised to say I miss it!

Also, without it functioning correctly, I have no cruise control. So, just ignoring it is not a long term option.

Drewd...please don't put yourself out...no rush, just thought it may be helpful if you have them available. I understand the long days/lack of time, trust me! :)

+1 on that , I had all mine come on and went nuts tyring to fix it my self , took it to the stiller and the tech put it up on the lift look for about 30 sec. per wheel , walked over to the water hose on the wall came back and washed out behind the wheels and bingo no lights , and it coast me 49.95 :furious: the only difference was I had mine in mud and sand. before I moved back here to Tn. from Fl.

Drewd - could you either describe the connector under the seat, or post a pic?

I think this is the issue I am having...I actually had it "repaired" under warranty at 18k. It now has 45k on it. I finally looked for the repair...shoddy solder job right near the connector at the passenger rear wheel. Anyway, as I was looking at it, one of the wires broke right at the connector it was so brittle! Literally snapped clean in half.

So, I ordered a new connector (5183448AA - $13.70) and plan to just run better wire up into the cabin and then splice right near the connector under the seat. Supposedly this P/N is for a "connector kit" - meaning it's all the pieces and I'd run the wire right into the connector terminals and whatnot. If this works, I may just replace the driver's side as well since it's probably a ticking time bomb.

Hopefully that was the problem and everything will be functional again once I complete the rewire on that side!

Sorry, I don't own a digital cam and my cell phone cam and lightening didn't work well for taking pics.

Just under the driver's side rear pax seat under the carpeting is a large wire bundle as part of the wiring harness assembly that feeds various electrical components to the rear of the vehicle. It is joined by a very visible connector. You can't miss it once you remove the seat and pull the carpeting all the way back to reveal it.

Well, i got around to doing some testing.. for those that this thread might still help... here is the plug that Drewd is talking about, and the wires that need testing...
This is located just under the rear seat on the driver side.

I have labled the pins that need testing for either side as either driver/pass side. Make sure you first unplug each plug from the sensor at each rear wheel, and connect with a metal paperclip, essentially making it one long wire. then touch those prongs with a continuity tester

Image

unfortunately for me, both test out just fine.
time to keep digging. but first i thought i'd post this pic for those still intersted.

Good luck to those that have simply a wire issue... mine was not that simple.

any other ideas?? i only get the ESP/BAS light, as well as the traction light. the horn still work, and the ABS light is NOT on.
Thanks in advance

Maybe we should make this a sticky, or put under a “repair category.” There’s a lot of good info in this thread. I’m subscribing……….

Bump bump.

06 CRD. Had all three lights come on tonight on my way to the barber shop. Jeep has a history of what feels like an ABS trip when coming to a slow stop with the breaks applied (vibrating pedal). The last time this happened to me in my 01 Ram 2500, my wheel hub/bearing assy was blown (abs plugs into the hub/bearing unit on the cummins) was wondering if the jeep Kj sports had a similar setup orrrrr?

Thanks. PK.

scanning my 06 was useless with a generic. What I did was took the connector right off the TCM and with an ohm meter (DVOM) I checked continuity at the pins( pin breakout available off the colorodo jeep site) and found my issue relatively quickly...took maybe 15 minutes...hardest part was un hooking the connector at the TCM.

digging this up again. Anyone else able to verify if the ABS light is on and the horn doesn't work that it is in fact the clock spring/sensor?

hi there.

this is just to add in that I'm having this issue also.

it might have started after I washed the car, some weeks ago.

ESP/BAS - ESP - ABS lights on most the time. sometimes go off after long drives.

one weird thing that I have noted is that when the lights are not on, the car will falter - just like the ESP does when you're slipping - for some while. then the lights will come on and the car will run fine.

horn works fine, airbags seem to be fine also.

I will try and check the pins and update here.

ESP/ABS, Trac lights finally went out for me when I did what RED_KJ_666 suggested. I throughly sprayed all around the brakes on all four wheels with my power vehicle washer. It's been a couple weeks and it works the way it should.
Many thanks RED!

Mine was working fine until last Thursday, when I got in during a torrential downpour and fired her up. I got about 7 feet on the paved road in front of my house when the above mentioned lights came on. ABS, EPS/BAS, and the little squiggly lines under the vehicle ESP/TCS light all come on, and the Jeep starts bucking and lurching, feeling like the engine is trying to stall as I apply throttle. It behaves a little better if I then press the ESP button on the column, for a while, sometimes not.
Sometimes the TCS will go from solid on mode to blinking mode on pavement, which means I have to press the ESP button again.

It's generally pretty random when it happens in the last few days, but it happens more often than not, now.
I just started it, the lights are off and the horn is working, so I'll have to check that when the lights come on again.
I'm in the middle of moving from one end of the DC area of Virginia to Roanoke, do my garage is full and all my tools are packed and stored in places I don't have catalogued right now, and I don't have the first clue who I'd take it to around here, yet, either.
