For what's it worth, I have the HOT tune but still have the stock TC. It was behaving just fine before the tune and, after 5,000 miles is still fine. I'm not saying it won't die, but so far so good.
My wife drives this more than I do but she is a bit aggressive (does't know about the tune) and most of the miles are a combo urban cycle with freeway speeds of ~80. I do tend to push it fairly hard when I driving.
I'm probably going to buy a new TC just to have on hand.
I got the HOT tune also, probably 20k miles now and no issues. I did several tests to test the TC. I was planning on running the HOT tune and if the TC failed upgrade. It never did. I tried my hardest to get shudder by giving it as much throttle as possible w/o it downshifting and unlocking the TC and every test, repeated over and over never had an issue.
Ended up selling the CRD for a V8 grand cherokee w/6.5" lift for more off road capability. I still talk to the owner of the CRD and he's lovin it and no issues.

Also a huge bump for Keith at GDE on the customer service thing. Simply couldn't have any better customer service from them. They sent me the tools to do my timing belt change and even answered a couple questions I had while doing it.
**edit**
Just talked to the new owner again. He has annother 9k on it since he bought it from me. Still loving it.
