3 Years going strong with no touch-up yet.
I used fairly coarse sand paper to take the rims to bare metal (okay, maybe 90%) and a somewhat rough surface. I can't remember what grit I used. 100-120ish.
Then after I did that I used tack cloth to remove as must dust as I could.
Followed by a thorough cleansing with denatured alcohol and rubbed down with a rag, old t-shirts work alright.
make sure it is clean and dry, tape off your tires, and then It's Time to paint.
I used Krylon Non-Skid coating. It is designed to be walked on and used as a load surface. so I thought it would be durable, and I was right.
I sprayed on a light tack-coat first before spraying several light coats according to the directions on the can. follow them to the tee and you won't be disappointed.
I did put on quite a few coats. I think I used 3 cans. maybe more.
I let them dry for quite a while as well. I did complete the whole process in one day. I sanded while the previous rim was drying, to speed things up a bit.
If you have any more questions feel free to ask.
I also recommend starting early in the day on a day you have all day to stay home and relax etc.
