Reported failures with the 0w40. Lots of ALH TDI owners have used 0w40 for a long time with zero trouble. I have used it in old Volvo Diesel engines, made by VW/Audi and I have seen no measurable wear when disassembled after 150-200k. There is no harm on using it. If this fellow made it to 300k with no serious problems with 5w20, that oil will obviously work. I agree, it is not an idea choice oil, nor would I use it, but he did and it worked. I have said it before, but stop and go and short trips will do harm on diesels. I am curious to see what the next few years briga to the folks that do a lot of stop an go, as well as short distance trips in their CRD. I realize a lot cannot help that, however, the CRD may be a poor choice of a vehicle for those folks. I try to use my other vehicle(s) when I go on a short mile or two trip. My
