Whats the latest on price... I am at 91k on my 2005 and want to get this done in a few months. How long is the wait for the price change and the parts delivered?

Well another 45k miles and I will be ready for a second !
I am thinking about the turbo, I see a trend in failures and am considering replacing a still functioning unit. Keith @ GDE recommended to wait until failure, not sure what to do at 145,000 miles.

Check the shaft play at every oil change and you can track the wear.

I check it once in a while, it has some play but I am unsure with out feeling a good one of how much it should have! Anyone (that knows good from bad) near SE MI want to feel my turbo shaft? Ha!

slight movement fore and aft along the shaft is ok, but perpendicular to the shaft should be no perceptible movement at all. The thing about turbo wear is that it slowly gets worse, until it quickly gets worse, and at that point you are screwed if you don't do everything right very quickly.

I'd rather spend a thousand dollars for a new turbo a little too soon, than spend a grand for the turbo when it blows and 5 grand on engine repairs. IIRc there are no stated wear limits in the FSM; it might be worth asking Garrett what they recommend for service limits.

Brass metal, European GRAF water pumps have arrived! Since we sourced these in bulk directly from the manufacturer, we got a great price and the Jeep CRD timing belt kit is now just $399.

I just installed one of your kits for a customer. Why do you include the extra bolt and timing cover gasket? The old gasket is typically reuseable and it it not vital. The timing cover is not sealed well around the crank hub and allows dirt in, this somewhat negates the need to that gasket replacement. $400 for the whole kit is a very good price!

From the TDI side of me, I always like using new hardware. New hardware torques correctly, is less prone to vibrating loose etc. As for the gasket - nearly every order placed for the timing belt kit before the gasket was included also had a gasket ordered (if that made sense). If I included it for free with the kit I would ensure that the number of gaskets sold would remain high and I could custom order them and bring the cost way down.
