Yes, I think you would have been just fine with the "standard" tow tune. Jeep cannot handle any grade at all with a heavy load under 70 mph in 5th.

At 5,000 LBS on my Beaver Tail Trailer, 60 MPH in 5th lock is fine for my Inmotion Stage II Tune, free breathing exhaust with the choke points removed, and my Suncoast Converter. At or above 5,000 LBS I press the OD off button until I hit 60MPH so I don't get the throbbing drive line syndrom. At 3,000 LBS on my Beaver Tail Trailer or a tandem U Haul, I don't need to lock out OD below 60MPH. I have found with the CRD, running the engine at higher RPMs when towing, drives up the EGT way up. Going with the OD off, towing a heavy load, and driving 70 MPH is like going into the Wrong Chicago Neighborhood at the wrong time of night.
Travel trailers have lots more frontal area than my Beaver Tail or a tandem U Haul trailer. On the level, frontal area can be a bigger factor than weight.
When I went to the dealer for my rear lower control arm recall, I installed my OBDII Rape Guard.
