So, I am getting my L27 recall done. While here, they are calibrating my Speedometer, since it is 5% off. (65 speedo = 62 gps). The guy tells me that 725 Revs per Mile is currently in the computer. He says my tires require 708. Well, that would make my speedo off worst! He gave me the strangest look.

Well, he just came back and asked again what the speedometer was doing. Then he nodded and said "ahh ok".

Then after all of that, speedo reads the same, but odo seems accurate now.

Let him know there are 2 places for revs/mile. One for odo, one for speedo.

I did, but he spend a good 20 minutes looking for a 2nd place and couldn't find any. Unless someone can point to exactly where it is, I will be sending my TCM back to Keith to slightly adjust my tow tune. I hate towing on the edge of going into 5th because my speedo is off.

Maybe I should ask Sir Sam.

What indicated speed and at what revs does your TCM shift to 5th? Ours shifts at an indicated 71, or so. You want it to hold 4rth to a slightly higher speed, correct?

I had mine programmed for 65, because I tow about 60 or so. It shifts at 64, which is about 61 on the GPS. It is a fine line trying to hold 60 in 4th. I bet if I would have left it alone at 70, It would be shifting between 66 and 67.

Yes, I think you would have been just fine with the "standard" tow tune. Jeep cannot handle any grade at all with a heavy load under 70 mph in 5th.

At 5,000 LBS on my Beaver Tail Trailer, 60 MPH in 5th lock is fine for my Inmotion Stage II Tune, free breathing exhaust with the choke points removed, and my Suncoast Converter. At or above 5,000 LBS I press the OD off button until I hit 60MPH so I don't get the throbbing drive line syndrom. At 3,000 LBS on my Beaver Tail Trailer or a tandem U Haul, I don't need to lock out OD below 60MPH. I have found with the CRD, running the engine at higher RPMs when towing, drives up the EGT way up. Going with the OD off, towing a heavy load, and driving 70 MPH is like going into the Wrong Chicago Neighborhood at the wrong time of night.
Travel trailers have lots more frontal area than my Beaver Tail or a tandem U Haul trailer. On the level, frontal area can be a bigger factor than weight.
When I went to the dealer for my rear lower control arm recall, I installed my OBDII Rape Guard.

Plan was to get the speedo fixed. But it failed to correct. Hindsight is 20/20
