Just got done R&R'ing the steering rack on the Libby. Wasn't hard but another set of hands would have made things go a bit quicker.

Steering's nice and tight again and no puddles of fluid on the garage floor. I enjoy wrenching but I'm in the mood to do some FUN mods - like some armor, gears, blah blah blah.

Am I whining yet...?

Oh that's coming right after he got frost bite so bad he had to finish the job with his teeth. Oh I almost forgot, he had to get a broken bolt out with his tongue. Yes I have heard the full whine session in it's entirety  :banghead:

Oh believe me, I thought about calling you. Wasn't sure when the package was going to arrive - as it was it didn't show till about 1:30 so a bit later than FedEx usually gets here. Appreciate your willingness to drive over here!

If you're talking about the washer for the JBA arms, I put it between the nut and the bottom of the spindle which is what JBA's instructions indicate. Didn't seem to make sense to put it on the top between the ball joint boot and the spindle. Am I wrong though - do I have it in the wrong spot? I'm still not happy with the alignment - I took it to my local shop to check the toe-in after putting in the rack (they adjusted it) and the spec sheet still shows the left caster at 2.89 (red) and the right caster at 1.03 (red.) I love the way it rides and feels up front now but I'm a bit OCD when it comes to alignments.

Hey Chris - no fun doing that job in the snow like that! It was a bit "thick" with humidity here yesterday - the way I sweat through my clothes is enough to scare puppies and small children - but I'll take that over frostbite any day :SOMBRERO:

The best place I've gotten an alignment was at Firestone Complete Auto Care... A lot has to do with the person performing the alignment. But it's the only place thats been dead center, as close as you can get without different lca's... I've had probably over 20 alignments... I'm real picky also since I'm on the highway a lot..

Dang it, thought we were all in the clear, I may have to pack up and move to Ky now..... :banghead: :goink: :ROTFL:

Tried to remove the fingerprint from my 3rd finger, right hand the other day, pinched between to pieces of metal, too skin right off about size of M&M. Puts a kink in trying to dig out old fence posts when your hand is throbbing.

I may just do that. Saw they have an "internet price" of 80 bucks for an alignment, so...

Not yet!

Wondering now if I installed my JBA arms a little incorrectly. I put the washer that came with them between the nut and the bottom of the spindle rather than between the boot and the spindle. Seems like that's correct since the cotter pin hole would have missed the slots in the castle nut (the nut would be too far up the ball joint stud.) May just crawl under it again tonight though...

I dunno :dizzy:

Bob

The Blue Washer or big 1/2" thick washer.... is supposed to go ON TOP of the Knuckle not the Bottom...

If you look at my picture.....
I think if you put the washer on the bottom, (Which I think you did) you are going to destroy that Upper Ball Joint Boot in a Hurry.... The Washer on top also helps hold the grease in the boot... so you might want to check asap....

Just from a picture... and a mental image of the washer on the bottom.... it could also have some contact with the upper control arm and the top of the knuckle while going over bumps... :|
