Hey everyone,

Anyone ever cruise on parts of the Trans America trail east of Telluride, CO? I searched the forum and came up empty..

But my dad and I were talking over drinks and we may try to cruise from NC to Telluride in May/June. He has a newish LR4 that's fairly stock and we're both going to start compiling armor, gear, and all that starting now.

So anyway, just curious if anyone has any tricks/advice for our planning stages, as well as anything else that could be helpful, muchas gracias :SOMBRERO:

First time I have heard of this trail. You might think about leaving a little later. Black Bear and some other trails in Colorado usually do not open until the snow melts. Around the first week of July. Depending on how much snow they had that winter. Let me know when you get to Kansas Maybe i will tag along for a couple of hundred miles.

See, this is the stuff I didn't think about :dizzy:

Will do though, the trip is still in planning phase so I don't know if it works out. If it does, I'll make sure to send an invite out to all of LOST to hop along

JP magazine did a write-up on this several years ago. They actually documented a portion of the route every month with pictures, write-ups, and other tidbits. I remember keeping up on it as they traveled from the West Coast to the Rockies, but then either my subscription ended or that was the end of JP's journey, I'm not sure which. Anyway, I saved those magazines thinking this would be a fun expedition style of travel. Keep us posted if you go through with it.

I didn't see the JP one, but here is a new article...

I'd love to do it if I get back to the states soon!

He loves it, he got the V8 model and it's awesome, interior is sweet, and it's super capable without mods which he's nuts about. Probably his favorite vehicle ever, which is saying something because he tends to burn through them (like father like son I guess :ROTFL: )

I haven't read this one yet but it sounds interesting, I want to see as many accounts/reports as possible. Thanks!
