These are some reasons why we are seeing mileage in the 20s. Everybody looks at VW cars and says, "Oh...those get mileage in the 40s...why can't we?" Well...those cars don't even make 100 horsepower, can't go off-road, and can't tow anything safely either. Two completely different animals there...
With propper European hitch in Europe they are rated about 4000 lbs for towing.
As for MPG's that is a pretty fair statement, but can be better or worse depending on several things like quality of fuel, driving styles, driving conditions, and mechanical problems or issues. Also the '06 models with vehical stability control will have lower fuel mileage do to the way that program works, I think it was about 3 to 4 mpg in the Dodge SE LX series cars that didn't have the option and it was the same, so a friend told me, that was discovered on the Toyota board. I know the RT drivers LX cars reported better fuel econommy when pulling the fuze to compleately disingage the ESP system.
