Can't see any negatives with Evans waterless coolant.
This seems like a good modification - it service is for the life of the engine outstanding.
A pressure-less system should last forever. This would mean that hoses only need replacing after perishing from age and the coolant can be captured and re-introduced.
The changeover worries me though with this particular block - in removing all the water as max H20 content recommended is 5% then the properties are compromised.
Apparently, the Evans pre-treatment does a fair job of capturing remnant water though.
Already have a bypass coolant filter in the pipeline (pardon the pun).

It's one less job to regularly do - I hate these piddle jobs for the case that the materials are inadequate formulated.
It's like painting - they could make a house paint that lasts forever but they won't.
Corrosion and cavitation cease.
If it's good enough for Jay Leno's Duesenberg which is a known tough one to keep cooled?
No pressure system so no radiator or water jacket failures.
Boils at 176 deg C @ 5000 ft elevation.

Hmmm, thinking.

I have a 93 C3500 6.5 TD and here is the info on Evans from one of the 6.5 diesel forums that has been well hashed. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/63-gm-diesel-engines/21-6-5l-diesel-engine/548802-waterless-coolant.html

Since the timing belt needs to be done very 6 years (I think) or 100K I'm just going to use antifreeze like AMSOIL's Propylene Glycol Antifreeze. It last 750,000 miles/7 Years & is essentially nontoxic & biodegradable.

I would not recommend it,it's highly flammable and not the right chemistry that your cooling system is spec'd for. It's not maintenance free either, you must test on a yearly basis and replenish the additive package.

Never use propylene glycol in your system, will not protect the vital engine systems/cooling system parts.Ford has a TSB about that junk as they spec the same coolant as a KJ and found that propylene glycol damages the water pump.

Thanks chaps.
This means more research is needed. It is in the fledgling part of an idea and I hoped for this kind of feedback.

They claim it is HOAT compatible/equivalent - and the web site does not mention maintenance that I can recall(although it does duck and weave a bit) - ie replenishing active constituents is something I don't recall.

I've visited a few of the HD vehicle forums but will certainly go to that one and have a good read synthetic-oil. Although I am not a fan of here say. So I won't do it unless I am perfectly satisfied.

Will keep researching - and start by asking them outright and see what it yields.
Have found if they won't answer questions directly (have found this with one filter supplier providing unqualified answers) I avoid that product.

That degradation tjkj2002 mentions is curious and certainly needs consideration and I totally agree with his note re not using propylene glycol (using HOAT only).
Perhaps I missed something on their website will indeed backtrack.
Clearly need to get hold of a safety data sheet on the stuff.

That's a help, steering me in ways I hadn't considered going in.
With Thanks.

tjkj20002 is right. I stand corrected.
I guess being sick & not having enough coffee the brain wasn't fully engaged. I knew that you can't run propylene glycol in a diesel with wet liners. I haven't had my Libby long & still not use to having a diesel wet liners. The days before HOAT we would have to add a chemical (to which I can't think of) so all our Detroit diesels on the ranch, but added it all of them anyway.

Yeah... consider Zerex G05 instead.

Thanks Hexus that is indeed a well considered and truly original thought that I had never considered.

Your sarcasm wasn't lost on me the first time, you didn't have to go back and edit your post to make it more obvious.

Have been in contact with the Evans representative here. They had responded within 1/2 hour of coming in to work after the weekend with well rounded feedback that is constructive and full of useful information which I am currently reading regarding compatability, suitability and the like. That came with an open invitation for further inquiry / questions and assistance.
I can't ask for more than that from a company.
