The system still has the k-seal solution in it. The solution has been running in the system all week, it will remain in the parked CRD until I find time to work on it.
I plan on replacing the TB soon so it will no longer be used until the K-seal is out of the system at that time.
I did perform a leak down test on the heater core alone.
I separated the heater hoses leading from the heater core to the viscous heater and the metal "Y". Then I devised a setup using a 5/8" brass T connector, a pressure gauge and a tire valve threaded to the connector. I pumped 16 lbs of air into it using a bicycle pump and it did not hold pressure. I rechecked all the fittings and they were tight.
I tested the cooling system, separate from the heater core and there is a noticeable pressure drop within 15 minutes. Coolant dye test will be in the works soon.
I tested the pressure gauge on my other car and the gauge tested good. The cap is good, tested on another car too.
More tests to come.
