The system still has the k-seal solution in it. The solution has been running in the system all week, it will remain in the parked CRD until I find time to work on it.

I plan on replacing the TB soon so it will no longer be used until the K-seal is out of the system at that time.

I did perform a leak down test on the heater core alone.

I separated the heater hoses leading from the heater core to the viscous heater and the metal "Y". Then I devised a setup using a 5/8" brass T connector, a pressure gauge and a tire valve threaded to the connector. I pumped 16 lbs of air into it using a bicycle pump and it did not hold pressure. I rechecked all the fittings and they were tight.

I tested the cooling system, separate from the heater core and there is a noticeable pressure drop within 15 minutes. Coolant dye test will be in the works soon.

I tested the pressure gauge on my other car and the gauge tested good. The cap is good, tested on another car too.

More tests to come.

OK, I poured green dye in the expansion bottle, started the engine and let it run for an hour and pumped some pressure.

I then found green fluorescent solution on the ground just below the starter. I followed the trail to a micro leak at one of the EGR cooler hose. So I replaced the OEM spring clamps with screw clamps and the leak stopped.

I will perform a new leak down test tonight and just let the pressure pump rest in place under pressure all night, I'll check it in the morning.

I am hoping that this is the end of the leaks.

I checked the pressure gauge and the pressure dropped from 15lbs to 3 lbs within 10 hours..... no visible coolant leaks, no coolant puddles and the overflow tank is dry. K-seal and dye remain in the system. The heater core is still separated from the cooling system and capped.

Now that the external leaks are no longer there, I decided to start the engine and perform the one minute HG leak test and there was mild pressure under the cap....

I think I have a HG leak that may have caused the heater core to blow and the EGR coolant hose to leak. Weak spots for pressure to escape.

I will be chancing a trip to the local diesel garage later today so that the mechanic can put it on a lift and check for external leaks and also check for a HG leak.
