My stock 03' Liberty Sport has 235/70's (goodyear sra's) and they appear to rub on the upper arm at full wheel lock. Is this normal!? It seems like everyone else can run larger tires w/o this problem. Also, I've noticed rubbing when I take a large dip at higher speeds. The plastic "nob" over the pinch weld on both sides is cracked and soft - so I'm guessing that this is where the contact is occuring. Is this normal?

Mine rubbed ever so slightly at full flex when stock. That is why when you lift and run 245/75/16 you will rub unless you trim.

I get a little bit of rubbing, but only when I am at full lock and usually when I am nose-downhill.

I think getting a rim with a lower backspace (larger offset) will move the rub off the A -Arm. It will move it closer to the fender, though, so don't go too low. Stock is 5.5", MOAB rims are 5.0"

Aw dude, you're scaring me! I just ordered some 245/70R16 Generals after reading on this forum that they won't rub under normal driving. I expect some rubbing offroad, but not driving on pavement. I hope I'm not setting myself up for problems. Maybe I'll have to change my order.

Don't worry Video Guy. Rubbing can easily be fixed with a sawzall and a blowtorch........... Just kidding. Get the tires and see what they do. Every Libby is a little different. Yours might not rub at all.

Don't worry video. You may get some rub at full lock but you shouldn't notice it much.

My '03 Rene came stock with those tires. They did not rub at all. Now I am lifted and have 245/75 BFG ATs. They only rub a it on the plastic underneath the fog lights.

Don't change it!!! :D
I just had my (mine now but until recently pixeldzn's...) 245/70's installed and MAN it looks nice! That's them in the poser avatar to the left...
There is very slight rubbing in reverse at absolutely full lock... let off the smallest amount and the rubbing goes away...

They look sooo purdy I can handle a tiny amount of rubbing...

Time to go get lost on Sunday at the sand pits and give em a run for their money... 8)

Hope everybody had a good weekend. After work Friday, I went back to the tire shop to talk to the guy who placed my order. He reassured me the tires would fit just fine, showing me on his computer that they're not to exceed manufacturers tolerances by more than 3%. According to their computer, things will play out fine. I'll find out today or tomorrow when the tires arrive.

On Saturday, I had oil change and new rear brakes installed at my stealership (coupon deal), which fixed my 45-50 mph brake vibrations. I noticed this morning that I'm leaking oil now, and AC fan position #2 no longer works. :( The blower cuts off completely in position 2, but 1, 3, and 4 work fine. Looks like I need a return trip so they can correct whatever they did. I have 30K miles left in my Maximum Care extended warranty, but there's a $100 deductible that I'd rather not pay, since the AC switch worked normally when I brought it to them.

In fairness to my dealership, this is the first time my vehicle's ever left the Service Dept. with a NEW problem. Part of the reason I go there is because service is always good, prices are competitive, and I want the free car wash. I don't imagine they'll give me any runaround. I'm a regular.

I'm psyched about getting the Grabber AT2's on today or tomorrow. I want to call Tire Barn every hour to see if the tires have arrived. 8) FWIW, the guy at Tire Barn said that General plans to discontinue the rest of their Grabber line this fall -- all tires except the Grabber AT2 because they're a new product that's selling well. I find this odd, since no place seems to stock the Grabber AT2. I guess these tires are selling based on word-of-mouth.

T.J.

Being that I was once a service writer for a repair shop I would guess that you will not get the freindly service that you are used to since what was done to your Libby had nothing to do with the AC or the oil.
Not to discredit you but I heard that same "It wasn't like that when I brought it in" line every day. And the only thing I could tell them is that what is wrong now had nothing to do with what it was brought in for. So, you may get a little bit of a run around on those items.

They said they'd forego the labor charge for ripping out the glove box and only charge me the $25 or so for the part. Fair enough.

WTF? They NEVER rubbed on my jeep unlifted, and we have the same style jeep! That makes no sense whatsoever. hmm.

Thats pretty good that they droped the labor charge. I am lucky enough to be on the good side of the service manager at my Jeep Dealership so he is always helping me out when it comes to things like that.
