The HDPE can still be torn. I showed that at Moab.........BUT there is still an advantage to them.
1. When you land on your rails, it absorbs a small amount of pressure at the start AND you don't get that *CLANG* noise that makes you cringe.
2. As you slide along the HDPE, you don't get that *SCREEEEEEEEECHHHHHHHHHH* sound.
3. You don't scratch and gouge the metal so you don't have to deal with the rust issues (primer and repaint).
My HDPE only suffered tears on the edges, not on the flat surfaces. Could have been due to sticky out about 1 cm too far.
The Sliders are awesome. Solid. I'm looking at adding the additional protection for the door. I was tilted at a big angle towards my drivers side as I was trying to get around a rock and NO sliders/boulder bars or other basic rails would've protected my door if my KJ had slipped a little to the right. I was sweating it.
There are no pictures of the "Super" Skink Sliders installed that I know of, but Rock Lizards website has about 4 KJ's with the regular Skink Sliders pictured.
