I spoke to my local stealership and asked if they had the said parts in stock. They didn't know what I was talking about and then said that they were still backordered on an old LBJ job

Check back in a few weeks they say...

They did confirm that a re-alignment would be done.... or should be

For a fee...something that is not a necessity though.

I got mine done yesterday without my notice and no questions asked about the lift. For those folks in the in the Colorado front range area check out Lithia Chrysler Jeep on Arapahoe...there was none of this BS about which years get priority or low stock on the new LBJs. A GOOD stealership experience for once! :D

if you're at a small dealership, they're not really doing by-year priority. I'm in Starkville, MS and I called and scheduled an appt, no questions asked...

Got this in response to my email to DC:

Quote:
My original email:

Question about Lower Ball Joint Recall
Comments:
I have an '03 Liberty Renegade. I know I am part of the Lower ball Joint
Recall yet my vin still returns a "No incomplete recalls exist for your
vehicle" when I check it on the web site. What happens now?

DC's Response:

Dear CHRIS:

Thank you for your recent email to DaimlerChrysler Motors Corporation.

Due to size of this recall & capacity of parts production, only 25,000
owner mailings will be sent out on a weekly basis - maybe 10+ months to
complete initial owner mailings.

Therefore, our records indicate this vehicle is not currently involved
in any outstanding factory recalls.

You can periodically access the self-service recall site on the internet
to check on your vehicle's involvement in any/all recalls that are
published. Simply go to one of our brand sites: www.chrysler.com;
www.dodge.com or www.jeep.com and click on "For Owners" and then "Recall
Notices" and follow the instructions on the pop up recall page. You
will need the last eight digits of your Vehicle Identification Number
(VIN).

Thanks again for your email.

Sincerely,

Dante

Senior Staff Representative
Chrysler Group Customer Assistance Center

For any future communications related to this email, please refer to the
following information:
REFERENCE NUMBER: 1539209
EMAIL CASE NUMBER: 157902

So , basically DC will be completing mailing out recall notices about the time they stop production on the LIB!

Check the manufacturers information label on the drivers door; down in the bottom left corner just below the barcode is the month/date/hour (MDH) when your Jeep was built. Mine is 031613, so mine was built March 16 at 1300hrs and it is showing on the website as incomplete. Now I just need to call a dealer to get an appointment tho take mine in.

Just got mine done today. It seems a bit more confident on the highway now, but it's probably just my imagination. I checked before I left the lot to make sure the work had been done and I wasn't getting screwed over, but the LBJ's were new. Didn't give me any trouble at all about my lift. I even showed up half an hour early and they took care of me on the spot. I only waited about an hour to an hour and 15 minutes, which is less than I waited for the alignment a few months back. If anyone lives in the KC area, I'd definitely reccomend Crawford's Jeep in Raytown.

Just got out from the dealer. They told me they don`t have the "new" replacement ball joints. But the parts should be in Mexico in "less than a month". But my KJ is listed as incomplete in the recall page! I think DC is rushing into things and I don`t think the new BJ will be any different from the previous one.

Good luck everybody, lets keep us posted about all the crappy and not so crappy experiences with our stealers.

Cheers,

Octavio

I got mine done yesturday. Now when I asked the service guy in detail he told me the only thing different about them is they are sealed water tight this time. The first recall was the heat shield b/c the brake was boiling the grease in the ball joint. The second recall was because water can get into it and cause problems.

on moog's advertisement flyer they list the #1 cause of the old ball joint failure corrosion from water and salt entering the joint. who knows it could be true about the new joint from jeep?

Got mine successfully done at Huffines Jeep in Denton. I left it at 10, and it was done when I came back at 2. It actually drives tighter now that everythings been puled off and re-tightened. I don't know what affects what, but the steering wheel slop is gone now.
