I've come to realize that Moose thrives on being contrary and finding the negative in what is mostly positive. Just take that into consideration and it will all make sense. He's welcome to his opinion as is everyone here.

One of the problems I have with closing off public lands to vehicles is that I then am excluded from using and seeing them. I'm a disabled veteran, rated 100% disabled by the VA. My KJ is the only way I could get into these places. Walking in is definitely not going to happen. I love the outdoors. After I retired I spent the next 6 years living in a 38' motorhome traveling around this country. I hit all but 3 of the lower 48 states. My first KJ, the wife and I visited a lot of places and took close to 2,000 pictures. I would really miss not being able to get off the beaten path.

Terry

No, I didn't miss the point. As an avid hunter, backpacker and jeeper, I do agree that public land needs to be kept open for all recreation, and the legislation the petition is against is some stupid doo doo. However, just because it's stupid legislation doesn't mean I'm going to side with an opposition that is going to allow ranchers to graze their cattle and loggers to cut the trees; both doing damage to the environment and diminishing the public lands. So sorry if I'm to the left of you on this issue. I'm sure I'm to the right of you on others (How do you feel about gun control? euthanasia? and federal fiscal policies?). Anyways, I just don't agree with the "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" approach.

Sorry to drag this out, and this is just an honest question/observation.

It seems than in many cases, all we get to do is vote against something. Be it the president, legislation, levy's etc etc. We may never get the ideal option in many choices we make in life, so what do you do? Nothing?

Just do the best than you can do. That could be speaking up at a PTA meeting, or going to become the president of the U.S.A. Too many people do "nothing". Im not pointing fingers at moose or anyone else, I just think that people need to get out of the backseat and start driving.

"The enemy of my enemy is my friend." I like that. If I remember right, that group includes, Stalin, Sadam, some French guy and too many others to admit to.

Mostly positive means at least partially neutral or negative. Being able to see the negative in things is not a bad quality, such as the KJ owner that realizes that without an SFA and some serious fabrication his Jeep will never rival a TJ or JK Rubicon off road in mostly stock form, so he happily wheels it on mild trails because he knows he'll frag a front end part otherwise.

Moose brought up an excellent point, and if i hadn't gotten caught up in the moment and signed the petition when i first read it I wouldn't have signed it...Not to mention, everybody needs to care about logging. I don't want anywhere *I* wheel to go treeless, because in a few years it'd be a couple hills and not much else. What else is gonna put dings in my fenders and scratches in my paint if there were no trees to make my KJ a rolling middle finger to XJ guys? I sure as hell don't want any ROCK damage
