Still haven't heard back from the person I bought them from. May have to track them down. Shouldn't be to hard considering I own a computer forensics firm. If I have to do that, they'll really wish they had responded and least explained what happened. My attorney can be very unpleasant to deal with. I'm a really patient guy, but despise it when people avoid me because they screwed up. Hopefully they'll contact me back soon. It could simply be an innocent mistake. However, according to the ebay ad:

"Here is a great set of factory Rubicon wheels that have less than 200 miles on them. The owner removed them right after purchase for custom wheels. Here is a chance to Rubicon your Wrangler!
Shipping will be $90.00 or you can pick them up at no cost."

Shipping ending up being $112.

"Q: Hello I read the description but was wondering if there is any scratches, blemishes, fading or any other defect whatsoever? thank you in advance, L...more Oct-10-07
A: No there aren't any flaws or fading "

Every wheel had some sort of tiny scratches. Nothing bad, but should have been disclosed.

Also, they are no longer a registered member of ebay after about a month of using it.

Not for nothing and not trying to discurage you or anything but cant they just say they were told that's what they were and not be held liable? I read an article on this before regarding some other site similar to Ebay and it basically said pleading ignorance disolves most responsibility.

All I know is, if someone told me "these are rubi rims from the factory" I could only assume they were. Now if I turned around and sold them in the same fashion, how could I be held legally guilty? Just looking at both sides of the coin. Although it does look fishy that they pulled their account after a month.

and to bolster your point even more (playing devils advocate here) they TECHNICALLY are factory rubi rims...JUST FROM 2 DIFFERENT YEARS. arrgggh. that's a tough call...but pulling their account is highly suspicious.

They responded back with an email today saying they never noticed it and asking what they can do. I sent an email back asking if they had another rim that matched the other 3. Waiting on a response. At least they're responding now. I just really didn't like the idea of them avoiding me on this, but it doesn't appear to be happening now. Hopefully they have another '06. I would be happy if they would ship it to me with a call tag. I'll pay to have the tire mounted and balanced on the matching rim and put the '04-'05 rim back in the box to go back to them. Worst case scenario, I'll put it on as the spare and just do a 4 wheel rotation. I've already ordered another '06, so I'll at least have 4 that match. At least most people don't have Jeep OCD like so many of us here, and would never notice with it as the spare.

Depends on if they can't help me, and what kind of deal I can find on another '06. I definately wouldn't try to profit off you, but I wouldn't want to lose too much.

The replicas haven't been available very long. Probably would have bought a set of 5 for $499 plus $100 shipping instead if they had been available when I purchased these. I was only going to go after the seller if they treated badly, such as avoiding me. I understand that innocent mistakes can happen.

I have a much bigger issue than a mismatched wheel right now though. I'm still trying to decide how far I want to go with Trailblazers, who installed the lift. I told them to install the extra set of isolators in addition to the originals. Not to replace the ones already there. I took my 2nd day of vacation this year so I could stay there while they were lifting it. About 1.5 hours into the install, I asked if I could speak to the tech doing the work on my Jeep in case he had any questions. They refused to let me speak to him, and said "We sell this lift kit, he knows what he's doing." I was surprised and asked how long they had been doing business with All J's. He responded, "We buy this kit straight from Old Man Emu, not from a reseller." I was a little worried at this point, as everyone here knows Old Man Emu doesn't sell this kit. They make the struts, shocks, and springs, but not the rest of it. They also don't sell the rear shocks except through All J's and their resellers like Rock Lizard. They definately don't make Al's upper control arms. They were finishing it up after I had been there for 5 hours, and I asked them to go back and look to make sure there were 2 rear spring isolators on each side, and not 1. They came back and said there were 2. When I was paying, I looked out the front glass at it and remarked that it was sitting a lot lower in the rear, and hoped the front settled a lot or I'd have to go to 3 isolators in the rear. The alignment looked so bad, I didn't know if it would even be drivable. I drove it a few miles making everyone mad because I couldn't go over 35 mph and the front end was pulling back and forth in both directions. I got over to the tire store with my rims and looked at the rear shocks and there was only 1 spring isolator on each side. I had 1 of the guys from my office give me a ride to the office which is just up the street and called Trailblazers. Then they said that it didn't have any upper spring isolators when I brought it in so they just installed the new set. I asked them why there was an old set in the box of stuff they removed and they responded that I could bring it back in and they would install them. Then I got a call from the tire store. They said that I was lucky to be alive. Most of the front end wasn't even hand tight. Only turned a few turns. If I had gone a few more miles the entire front end would have fallen apart and I would have been in a really bad accident.

good god man!!!! thankfully you made it...you should have had them stop the install as soon as they were giving you bogus info and denied you access to the tech. How shady is that??? What a recent run of luck you've had...what are you thinking of doing with this Trailblazer place?? I would be suspect of anything they touched and maybe drive your rig to another shop for a second opinion on the lift...that's downright frightening service.

Thanks for the votes of support. I'm still trying to decide how far I want to take this. I could unleash my sister on them, but she'll need a statement from the tire store. Not sure I want to bring them into this. They're really nice guys and even fixed up the front end for me while they were installing the tires and doing the initial pre-settling alignment.

Did you notify the TB place that did the lift of what your tire place found??? I would think they'd be quaking in their boots to know they sent out a vehicle from their shop with less than hand tightened fasteners potentially causing your death or others on the road if you had an accident...curious if you brought this to their attention since they already lied about the spacers.

Ohh gosh, that sucks pretty bad.

Ive never had work done at places like trail blazers. We had a tint job done by them in Pikeville and the tint turned purple in no time. And no, I didnt use ammonia.

Glad the tires place fixed you up though!

Did TB put the extra Isolator in for you? Did they screw anything else up?

Haven't gone back over there yet. Been too busy and too angry. They are definately never touching my Jeep again. I'm putting the extra weight on(skink super sliders and brush guard for the off road lights) and then I'm going to take it in to the dealership to a guy I met there who is really cool and loves my Jeep. I'm going to get him to add the extra isolators if it is still low in the rear, and take care of the extremely squeaky front bushings since the lift was done. I think they may have screwed up the sway bar. I'm also going to get it aligned again since the settling should be done. The next round of updates hopefully will include new front and rear bumpers. Think I'm going with the RL rear, and I'm trying to decide between the RL front and JHCrash's front.

Thanks for the advice. I'll give that a try. I've got some silicone spray right here.

shoprat... I just bought a set of those Ebay knock offs. I ended up contacting another Ebayer via e-mail that had purchased a set. They said they were perfect in every way, he even had an '04 Lib (like my wifes). I bought a set. Very quick delivery. Packaged very well. And the wheels look great! They even come with a generic center cap - I went to the dealer and bought a set of Jeep centers though.

Right now the wheels are over at my brother's shop... along with tires (Goodyear Silent Armor 245/75R16) and shocks (OME). I'm still waiting on OME springs/struts. Next weekend is the planned transformation date (it was to have been the weekend...).

OME'D... LOL. I like that.
