yeah, once i got over drilling the first one it wasnt quite so bad. still a little nerve wracking though... The wiring worked out just fine. The only problem I had is that the spot they showed to ground it was pretty much impossible to get too... so i just grounded it someplace else! no big deal. And I put that little indicator LED right next to the switch on that trim panel. It looks 1000x better there then it would in that cluster bezel.

So Tom, why was you weekend not successful?! Did you get lost in the crazy world of the northeast? I know its hard to find your way around when there are hills, and you dont have all the scarecrows to ask directions! Really though, northwest ohio is nothing but flat farmland..

Looks great!! I'm glad my Rennie came with one. Now I'll have to install one on my wife's 07 Sport.

another word of advice is to make sure when making your holes to be forward on the roof where is says in the directions. if you drill the holes too far back you'll drill into the roof's inner ribs which are very very had and you wont be able to get the nutzert in. the directions for this part is confusing.. just use the measurement closest to the front of your jeep :)

2006 KJ,

As you mentioned this it started me thinking about my pending install. I am about to install the Gecko Roof Basket from RL on my K in place of the EOM roof rails. I have not dropped the headliner out yet but I was wondering about any structural ribs in the locations of the OEM roof Rails mounting locations. Does anybody have pics of their INSIDE of the roof with out the headliner? I am looking to run wires for the 4 lights and the CB antenna cable INSIDE the tubing of the Gecko. I want to pass it through the roof at the driver's side front mount between the mounting bolts there by keeping the wiring concealed.

I began to wonder about my challanges in making this penetration.

Any pics? Thanks in advance.

Jerbacher, Looks GREAT Congrats!!!! How was the wiring?

The wiring was not bad at all. Just have to be patient with fishing the wires through the firewall and be sure everything is out of the way in the engine bay.

You are 100% correct Tom, I have an '02 Genuine Mechanics Old School Shop manual that I made the Stealership give me upon purchase. I have looked all over it and no mention of light bars/ off ropad lamps or any other reference to this lighting system.

I'm trying to remove the A-Pillar handles (to install an EVIC and to run the wires for a light bar) but I'm stuck!!!
There's a nut where I was expecting a Torx  Between 1/4 and 3/16 so probably metric, but I have nothing else that can reach that deep... What did you use?

everything on the car is metric
(with the only possible exception being the input yoke on the 8.25 rear end not having metric threads for the bolts holding on the U clamp for the driveshaft ujoint)

Well finally after a trip to Sears for some real tools I was able to remove the nut... but it's not metric on my '05 !!!
It was between 5 and 6mm, and a 7/32'' did the job perfectly. I'm surprised how many different version we have.
First it's not a Torx, then not metric

Actually, I used a 5.5 mm on mine. What was especially annoying was that I had to find a deep socket instead of a normal one with an extension, because the clearance hole was too small for a 1/4 socket main diameter.
