Yesterday I had to bring my KJ back to the dealer for the same problem that I had less than 12 months ago.
I had some hard knocking noise from my driver’s front drive shaft. The dealer called me this morning and said, you have the same problem that you had 9 months ago. CV's and drive shaft need to be replaced. I said ok cool it should be covered for the 1 year or 12k mile warranty repair. He said it should be but it is not. I asked him to explain why this is. He told me it is because of your lift and tires. He said the Moab rims were not ment for the KJ and the 245/75 either. I told him that I put them on Monday. He said well there you go that was your problem. I then said to him, your telling me that in 3 days I blowout my CV's and drive shaft on the same side? YES he said. Then I asked, well tell me this, how come my passenger’s side NEVER FAILED YET?
He had nothing to say about it.
The dealer just looks for way to deny any repair under warranty.
OH YEA, the last time I brought it in for that problem, I had just gotten done wheeling with some N-E KJ guys and the dealer said well you were 4wheeling and that caused the problem.
If the KJ sat for 6miillion years, they would say well it is because you did not drive it for long periods of time.
I think they messed up of it was a defective part. I really did not do much wheeling after they replaced the last time. So I do not know why it went bad again unless it was defective in the 1st place
Dawg, i'm having the exact same problem with my KJ and same experience w/the stealership. Long story short, i am taking the KJ to a Jeep specialty shop since the stealership won't honor the 1yr warranty. i had this shop install my Detroit TT. They had to machine the stock carrier bolts to finish the job, adding about 2.5hrs labor, and they still charged $300 less than the stealership's estimate!

i will NEVER GO TO THE STEALERSHIP AGAIN! ! !
