My new stealership story is:

About two weeks ago the AC in the misses 02 KJ went out. I noticed a wetspot on the mounting bracket of the AC condenser. Took it in with the 5 year 50,000 mile 0 deductible bumper to bumper warentee in hand.

Told the service rep that i see a leak in the mount for the ac condenser.

He said, "I will have to look at it. It is probrably a rock off the higway impact, and that IS NOT COVERED by the 5/50,000."

I said it looks like the mount.

Later that day I got a call saying it was going to cost 800.00 plus because the 5/50,000 would not cover impact damage. I rushed over looked at it and sure enough there was impact damage. A new hole right next to the mount where i had seen the leak. I was pisses told the guy to put it in as a bad mount he said he already entered it into the Chrysler computer as impact under my VIN and that if I didn't fix it here then any other chrysler dealership would be prevented from fixing it under the warentee.

I had a few choice words for him, said put it ALL back together and I would take it with me NOW he said that will be $89.95 for the ac inspection FIRST then he would put it back together.

I went to 3 other mechanics, first two said with out asking them anything and without pointing out the problem "Who was the Jerk who rammed a screw driver into your AC condenser." Third one said "That Ain't no Rock that's a tool mark"

I am meeting with the manager of the slealership as soon as I can.

What did you end up doing about this? I took my KJ into the dealership to have the 160 amp alternator installed, and an alignment and tire rotation. The next day I noticed my compressor didn't sound like it was kicking in while using the defroster, but it still wasn't very warm outside so I wasn't sure about the AC, but it was fogging up very badly in the rain. I took the Jeep back over to them thinking they must have disconnected the compressor while working on the alternator. They told me it was low on freon (I'm sure it was since it uses R134A instead of freon) and must have a tiny leak that they couldn't find and it just happened to get low enough about the time the worked on it. They charged me $212 to charge it back up and put dye in it and said to bring it back in a week and they would black light it and take care of any leak for no more charge. That evening it stopped working, but I didn't have time to take it back in until the next week. After being there for a couple hours, they came up to me and I thought I was done. However, they told me it needed a new condenser and it would be about $875 more in repairs. I put a can of the sealant and dye in it and recharged it this morning. I just black lighted it tonight and it is leaking at the mount on the driver's side.

When I took my Libby in for the LBJ recall. They called me to tell me I needed new tires and a fuel injector cleaning (for $160). When I said, uh, the tires are almost new... She said "Oh, he must have meant you need to have some nitrogen put in your tires." To which I replied... "Uh, just fix the recall. I let the air out of my tires just about every weekend so that wouldn't be very wise..."

What happened to mechanics that could hear a noise, or feel a certain vibration and know where to start looking and fix the vehicle. Now, and I know from bringing my Jeep's to the dealer many times, if it's not throwing a code, they refuse to look at it.

We got other jobs when they decided to let 16 year olds do the service work and made us slaves of the diagnostic computer.

:D

Here's the story of my absolute last visit to the stealer ( I thougt about letting them do the tranny and axle fluid only from now on, untill my car started dripping ATF from the transfer case not tightened fill plug! :( )

The Jeep dealer I went to in Sandy, UT (Larry Miller) was super-awesome (at least their service dept). They were very good at explaining things to you and if you did need a repair, the always presented a "good, better, best" scenario. They seemed to be honest to a fault.
When JL Audio decided they did not need me anymore, I had to move back to FL. While the corporate card still was active I told them to go over the Jeep with a fine-tooth comb and fix ANYTHING they find. Essentially, I gave them a blank check. They came back to me in 1 hour and told me that they only thing they could find was the fuel filter is close but not for another 3K miles. I told them to replace it because by the time I got to FL it will be time (better JL pay for it then me).
Just last week I go to the local Jeep dealer for oil change and they tell me that the fuel filter is still the original filter from 06. I told them that it's only 3K miles old and no thanks. The guy said "oh, well with all the off-roading you're doing, it makes it look older than it is". I mean really, filters are repalced based on cosmetics? Sheesh

I was talking to one of the salespeople at the local Jeep dealership, and I asked him if they were going to be getting any Wrangler Rubicons in anytime soon because I wanted to test drive one, and he gave me ablank look and asked "Whats that?"

The funny thing about that is when you go back a few weeks later and they have one to test drive, that SAME GUY will say to you: Yea these thigs are the best and as a mater of fact I have one at home and I have taken it off road many times and it is the best and I would never buy anything else.

I have heard that many times before from sales men
