I'm ready to put a new set of plugs and wires in. Everything is currently stock.
What are you guys using for plugs and wires and why?
I've always been partial to Bosch in the past, but am very curious about the Pulstar Pulse Plugs. Is anyone using these and are they living up to the hype? Increased hp AND mileage? Seems questionable to me.

1st things 1st. Open the hood and look. There are no wires. Each cylinder has it's own ignition coil right on top of the plug. Just change the plugs and move on, unless you get weird misfire codes on the CEL.

BTW, welcome to the madness known as LOST

I had the top of the line Bosch plugs, lost about 1 MPG and started to idle rough. I replaced them with the Autolite double platinum, smooth idle and better mileage. Go figure, spend more and get less. Stick with the Autolite's they work. :D

I am using the Pulstar Pulse Plugs 4 rite now and they SUCK!

I noticed a drag in MPH and I feel that the engin is some what sluggish. Either it is the plugs or the KJ hauling my fat stupid around. Either way the Pulstar Pulse Plugs I woud stay away from.

I am going back to my good ol CHAMP PLUGS!

Thanks for the heads up on the Pulstar's.

Feelin slightly stupid on the wire remark. I haven't looked at the plug setup. It's been idling just rough enough to notice. The only thing I can figure at this point is plugs. She's only got 19k on her. All other routine maintenance has been taken care of since I've had it.

nothing stupid about learning how easy it is to tune these things up. 6 plugs, a fresh amsoil drop in air filter and a PCV valve in about and hour and you are good to go. Just make sure you have extensions and a swivel socket for that back plug by the coolant bottle

I have never had a bad experience w/ the factory plugs, NGK's in Any vehicle I have used them in....... all of them I have owned for 20+ years. Also used Nippondenso's (under the ACCEL name) w/ good luck and BOSCH.

PCV Valve? I've changed oil religously, but it's worth a shot.

A friend of mine in the wholesale auto parts business just today sent me over some Denso iridium plugs. He sells most brands - Denso, NGK, AC Delco, Motorcraft, Champion, Bosch - and claims nothing is better, or sells better than Denso, due to the fact they get almost no defect returns aside from an occasional rare shipping damage. The plugs he sent me for my 3.7 were near perfect (.040).

NKG Platinums or Iridiums.

stay away from that pulse star plug. The only thing pulsing will be your blood pressure after you spend all that money for snake oil.

autolite plat are one of the best plugs to run with a stock dis system...all the jeeps i find also run these plugs...not because they are cheaper but the engine are simple and don't need the high out put plug...go w/ autolite platnum

Not to get OT here but, have you checked the O2 sensors, as well? Mine started idling /running rough a few weeks before it finally threw a CEL and code, when the wire clip for sensor 2- bank 1 broke and the wires started rubbing on the front driveshaft.

I would be shocked if this were an issue at 19,000. I'm going to go over it today and put plugs in. If necessary I'll continue to work my way around until I find the culprit. I'll be off to get those plugs in about 2 hrs. Any last words on plugs?

Thanks again!

no additional info except high priced plugs are a waste ! I changed mine out at 19000 the first time and do it every 20,000 to 22,000 , so far 5 sets and getting ready this weekend for the 6th set, cheap to do and makes a huge difference
