The lift install went very smoothly. We then, um, celebrated our success in a liquid way...

Upon returning home some hours later, I discovered that my (un)trusty TW broadband connection was not in a good mood, and could not access the 'net. .

So, upon getting out of bed to conduct whatever business those of us who wake up in the middle of the night to conduct, I can finally sign on. yea!

- I did forget my camera after all and I only have cell phone pics -

Here we are at my buddies home workshop. 60' x 100' with an 11,000 # lift!

Some other projects in the works:

Finally backed it out, getting dark, crappy front view:

All in all, It is up about 4" from wheel center line to flare due to my crappy & sagging front stock springs. I expect to lose some of that with settling. There is zero contact anywhere with no trimming, although we just used the lift picking up on various corners & I have not been off-road.

The lift is OME 927's with the little spacer place on top ( not the OTT ) with Rancho's and a rear spacer. I can easily upgrade to rear springs later. The rolling stock is 245/75/r16 MT/R's on stock steel wheels.

The ride home was smooth and uneventful. I cannot get the alignment for another day, but I do not expect any issues as it looks & drives fine the way it is. The maiden voyage was a 35 mile drive home at highway speeds & zero drama.

All in all, I should have done this a year ago.....

IC,
Why the top spacer plate? I am thinking of just going with coils/shocks/struts and want to make sure the MOAB's and MT/R's fit under there ok.

I may still be looking for some factory rims to throw a set of freeway tars on... Something about running to Florida & back & using 10% of an MT/R's useful life in one trip doesn't appeal to me..

After may parts trip, I wrote how I ruined the sidewall on one tire. Well, another had something in it & had developed a slow leak: 2 days = flat. So, the time really had come to put the MT/R's on, which meant the lift had to go on, and all of the stuff had been gathering dust in the garage for months. There was no way I was going to pay to fix a flat in a 56,000 mile SR-A and then scrounge a spare for the ruined one.

Got it aligned today. I do not have the sheet with me, but it came back into spec's just fine. The handling & ride seem unaffected. I still have gone into an exit ramp real hard, but I think if I had to it would settle in & go around rather than over. Anyone want to guess what I have to do to the passenger side to stop it from rubbing when backing up, especially on in incline? :( I think that the fairly aggressive tread of the MT/R is the cause were a milder tread might eek by without this step.

Did someone say Dayton???

MTRs I would say are whats making it rub some, catching some lugs there, heat gun and 3 minutes or a hole saw

So after a day or so are you getting used to climbing UP into the KJ yet?

I felt so bad about the added height yesterday. My 5 yr old daughter went to get in it the first time and fell... No blood, no foul? :?

I really think this is the height they should have been from the factory. It now sets even fore-aft, as well. No more rake. YES! I did not like that look, and it just kept getting worse.

Time to stop by Harborfreight for an el cheapo heat gun....

BTW: I may not have mentioned this, but we did this with a harborfreight strut tool set  I would not try it without a nice impact, but they did both struts and held in there. I took it really slow, going a few threads at a time side-to-side, until it was done. If you are using hand tools, take it to a shop or buy a pre-assembled Franky.

The most handy tool? Ratchet strap! Pulled everything right in line and made it a cake walk.

Tom, the battery tray was as big of problem as anything.
