Okay so as not to get to off topic.....................

OME HD's give a real great ride in a KJ even without heavy bumbers,it makes the Jeep ride like a Jeep without being overly harsh.

OME mediums is for those you don't want there Jeep to ride like a Jeep but rather like a CRV  .

OME light duty's will give you a mushy ride like the OEM stuff does.

Use Rancho struts/shocks for a firmer ride, use OME for a mushy ride, and yes I have had both and the Rancho's give a better ride hands down, well at least a better ride in a heavy pig that my KJ is.

Now back on topic jsc7002 has given great places to get the stuff,Advance Auto parts stores can get you the Rancho struts/shocks also but you may have to wait a day for them to get there.Dirk at DPG Offroad is a good guy and AllJ's can get you the OME coils also.

i dont know what your talking about. i hate when people that dont know what they are talking about say things, that is going to sway someones deciding factor, on false information. i have the OME HD's, no winch or steel bumper, and in my opinion, the ride is MUCH MUCH better than stock, not bumpy AT ALL! as with other members with these HD springs, their experience is equal to mine with them

so to the original poster, i would go with the HD's in the front and back, you wont be dissapointed in the ride. thats just my opinion though, if you want the MD's, go ahead, it wont lift it AS much, but is still a good spring, but just from my experience with the OME HD's, im very happy with them and give a really nice lift and ride. they dont ride too rough AT ALL. if you decide to never go with a steel bumper/winch, you will still be happy with them

edit: and im NOT saying the MD's are bad, because they definitely arent bad springs. because there are certain members on here that have the MD's, and are happy with it, and their jeeps look great with those springs! but im saying from my experience, and many others experience, that you cant go wrong with the HD's. obviously, the MD's are going to ride nicer than the HD's, but saying that the HD's ride stiff and someone wont be happy becuase of the stiff ride, if a FALSE statement. its NOT going to ride like a cadillac, even with the LD springs or the MD springs, its a JEEP afterall, if they cared about cracks in the road, why would they have a JEEP which is known to "Ride like a JEEP".

To the OP, Dirk is a great guy to work with as TJKJ said and Jeepin By Al's is also great people, I picked up ISO's & upper A-arms from them. You might want to think about changing them out while you have things torn apart.

for the top plate, you can either get the Daystar top plates, or the OEM top plates, whichever you choose will work just fine. the daystar ones can be bought from JeepinbyAl, but i THINK you might need to buy studs for the daystar ones, not sure, maybe someone can chime in on that part. i would hate to see you buy the Daystar ones, and be all ready for install, and not have the studs and have to make a trip to the car parts store ;)

I got a Daystar top plate with the Daystar lift I bought and it did not come with studs, I had to take the studs out of the OEM top plate and press them in.

After looking on Jeepin by Al's site, I think you only get the top plate and need your own studs.

approximately 2 to 2.5 inches

you can add clevis lift, rustys-style top plate spacer, Jeepin by als internal spring ring, any of those to get some additional lift up front to suit your tastes

or in the rear add up to 2(no more than 2 extra additional iso's) extra rear isolators for a little bit more lift in the rear, each one will get you an additional 1/2" approximately, i have 1 additional in the rear, which means the original top isolator, plus one extra, on each side and i like it, but you dont need to do it

Daystar top plates do not have studs. However, here is the info on what studs to get to not have to use your original studs.

How to press the studs into the top plate:

Good enough to fit the MOAB's with MT/R's under it? Yes, I know...I need to pound the pinchweld too!

Actually when I got my Moabs and had the MTRs on them yet, I could of run with knocking down the pinch welds, I didn't have a lot of room but it would of never hit, so you may try it or just do it for "safety reasons"

Okay. I feel obligated to throw in my 2 cents worth. By all means, if you have any doubt about whether you'll eventually add a bumper and/or a winch, go with the HD OME springs. At the recommendation of the OME rep, I went with the Light front springs and the Medium rear springs and run the Rancho shocks and struts. The ride is outstanding. Much better than stock. Our KJ is our only running vehicle and is used for everything including City, Highway and LOTS of off-road driving getting to our clubs gold-prospecting claims. The ride is not mushy and the front end doesn't bounce or bottom out.

Now, about the "any doubt" part. We never had any intention of adding a bumper or a winch. However, we're real excited about RockLizard's upcoming lightweight, non-winch, front bumper. I'm pretty sure that we'll end up swapping out the front springs after we get the bumper on even though the bumper won't weigh all that much. Yes Tom, we'll probably go with the HD's this time.

As for a supplier; after getting quotes (with shipping) from a number of vendors, we got everything from All J. First, their knowledge of KJ's is outstanding as is their customer service. Second; their shipping costs were considerably cheaper than other vendors. Even though you may be able to find some of the pieces cheaper, All J's shipping costs more than made up for the difference. Lastly; they support the forum so I support them.

Suero - I plan on getting the OME HD when I upgrade this fall as well. I would opt for that anyway... who's to say that you don't happen upon a good, cheap used bumper or winch in the near future? Then what? And from the good folks I've talked to, it sure seems worth it to have the HD anyway. And the ride is pretty good. :D

That is my plan, Jayme. Placing the order for the HD springs tomorrow (the struts and shocks on mine are OME already)...

New tires are after, but you already knew that. didn't you...???
