Does anyone have a how-to on fitting a 05+ tranny skid onto a '02 KJ? I tried it and had two issues besides the holes not lining up. 1. the skid is hitting the the exhaust pipe. ( should it go above or below the front skid?) 2. the skid came with some bolts that are supposed to go into the cross member but how in the world do i put them in??? :?:

I've done it with mine. I used this link for info and pictures. http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... hp?t=39488

You need to put the tranny skid in between the front skid and the crossmember. You have to get at least a 3lb hammer and beat the trannyskid flat in the area where the exhaust runs.

Drill holes to line up tranny and/or transfer case skids. Insert nut and bolt where required.

did you have to drill through the rear cross member at both holes, even the one that lined up and put the nut on top or did you manage to fit it into the predrilled hexagonal hole?

You can beat it with a hammer but it may not be as effective.
loosen your front Dif skid plate, let it drop about 1/4 inch, slide the trans skid into place, you will have to remove the drivers side front skid plate screw , hand tighten, the drivers side nutzer for the trans kid should go right in, now measure where the ehaust pipe will hit, should be 4" front and 4" rear 8"total. take the skid plate down, I used a Dewalt grinder with a cutting wheel, slice right dound the center of the support tube on the trans skid, now its easier to bang away , bend both sides as far as you can, it will be nice and flat with no damage to the skid.

I bought mine brand new, so I had all the nutzerts. When I lined my skids up, everywhere that a nutzert hole lined up, I just put a nutzert there. I drilled through the cross member for any other holes. I think I was able to use 2 for the tranfer case skid, and 1 on the tranny skid.(nutzerts)
