I'll take a picture if you want, I just mounted my amp on to the top / back of the rear seat (My amp isn't good at handling heat and if i really crank it it'll cut out.) It actually works well, keep's the wire's more out of the way, obviously the amp is out of the way, and it doesn't take up any room when the seats are down. Eventually when I'm swarming with money i'll upgrade the sub and the full speaker system, until then this lets my sub be quick detachable.

thanks for the compliment. It actually wasnt all that expensive... i found the amp on craigslist for $150 and had the guy meet me at Best Buy so they could check the amp for me to make sure everything was in working order before i gave him the money. The sub i won on ebay for $142 from a guy that said he purchased it but couldnt use it bc it was too loud for him. So given the amount of power the setup is pushing, i didnt really spend too much money.

Sorry it took me so long to upload these my camera went on the fritz. I know the sub isn't secured any better than some of the others, I did wrap a bungie around it and hook it to the seat. My amp is mounted high (figured best air flow right there) but you can mount it anywhere on the back as long as you hit the board behind it, nice thing is if you use the amp mount screws, it won't leave holes in your carpet and when you take it off you won't be able to tell it was there. As I said before it's still a work in progress, i want to replace this big box / sub with a better sub in a smaller enclosure but it's the $$$ baby.

I have a Jensen 500w amp mounted on the back of the box and 2g Rockford fosgate wire kit

When you guys mount the amp to the back of the box, don't you worry about vibrations damaging the amp, or making the screws loose over time? How about velcro. I got industrial strength velcro at home depot, but they are stick on, and I thought the heat from the amp could probably melt them..

i added dynamat to the inside of my sub box which reduced the amount of vibration i can feel pounding on the amp... i also keep the gain turned real low, otherwise my Type X would shake my jeep apart.

most good amps are built to withstand pretty fair amounts of shock. After all quite a few stock subs come installed with the amp inside the sub case. Not to mention they are inside a vehicle and most vehicles undergo a fair amount of shock at times too. And I've never had a problem with the screws backing out, I used the box screws for the sub to hook the amp in and their pretty aggressive screws. Of course my sub (as can be seen) isn't exactly the largest, most pounding system out there.

I checked, there is no way my amp is fitting under the driver seat, it is just too curvy there, maybe a small speaker amp might have worked, but the 4 channel amp will have to go rear.
So it is either going to the back of the rear seat or piggyback on the sub box, I did not compare the box and amp dimensions yet.

To the topic starter; Another thing to consider is ventilation, when the box is big enough, it may block the ventilation. Hooking it on the box is also a minus when you plan on removing the box time to time to get the cargo space back. It will surely be an issue then. If it is mounted on the seat or elsewhere, you just need to disconnect speaker leads, that's all.

I replaced my Infinity woofers and tweeters with upgraded Infinity speakers with corssovers and an MTX powered sub with a remote.

How was the dash tweeter wiring? did you have to fabricate a mount or did you cut the tweeter grills?

Ignore the wires, they will be tucked away, for now sub hides them very well. Sub also feels like anchored down, it is not moving anywhere...
I also found the benefit of mounting on the back of the rear seat, you can fold it and very easily work on the amp... Adjustments are easy. I just hope air flow won't be an issue there, so close to the bottom.

All the photos Ihave see show that no of you have secured your subs, please take the tim to secure it. In an accident this will become a 20-50lb deadly object. You can get a cheap rachet strap fom Wal-Mart with a 2000lb rating to prevent this. I have seen several accidents where unsecured items cause injuries where if they were secured the drivers/passengers would have walked away.

Where would you strap it? You would probably need to bolt hooks or small shackles down to the cargo area floor and strap to them?

I think the security cover would somehow hold it back a little, and those with big subs, I don't see how it can pass by the head rests of the rear seats to make its way to the front. Of course anything lose in the cabin is dangerous.
