Just made my first road trip with the gde tune. 1st leg 267 miles all Interstate was running 70MPH with AC and I got 24.83 MPG Last 20 miles was stop and go traffic. Return trip 325 miles was all interstate 80 MPH with last 20 miles city driving and I got 21.67 MPG. I was really hoping for better results. I'll keep checking with each tank. Does anyone know of a good high velocity fan to replace the stock auxillary fan?
What were you getting before the tune?!?! I can almost hit 30mpg and I'm still stock...
It varied quite a bit. This jeep has been F37'd and was my Wifes daily ride until about 2 months ago. She got a new car and I took the Jeep so I wasn't real sure what the MPG where until I started driving it in May. It seemed to average getting around 24-26 MPG highway and 20-22 MPG city. Then about a month ago I changed tires to the Goodyear Fortera SA 245 70r 16. It seemed that the MPG dropped a bit after the new, wider tires but I was in denial and didn't want to believe my calculations. Besides I tow a travel trailer 5K lbs, and I thought the wider tires would be a plus for towing and I can accept a slightly lower MPG for better safety and stability. I have a hard time driving under 70 MPH on the interstate which is probably what I'd have to do to get close to 30 MPG.
Even before the tires, that seems unusually low. Did you clean your MAP?
The only other real surefire way to improve mpg mod wise is to remove your stock muffler and replace it with either a piece of 2.5" pipe or a straight thru muffler (like a Magnaflow).
Wider tires will always lower your mileage, guaranteed. More traction = lower mpg.
And, in response to CRD Joe's comment, set cruise at 60 on flats (if you can stand to go that slow

) and DON'T fold in your mirrors. You might get 37, instead of 38, but you won't have to worry about major fines for making yourself a safety hazard on the highway. Better yet, you won't have to worry about making yourself a safety hazard on the highway.
