Has anyone put 33X10.50's under a KJ yet? I have custom front and rear bumpers and flattened pinch welds. My lift has sagged and I will be putting another lift on, or going SAS. Obviously if I go SAS I will go 35's. If I go lift, I will put a 4" lift on it.

And I know that it will mean I double my chances of exploding my front diff. I can live with that. I'm mulling over some ideas. Exploding the diff might not be a bad thing.

I have done 31x10.50's and now have 32x11.50's. I don't think you could fit 33x12.50's without serious rubbing. I haven't ever seen a 33x10.50????

He has gone down to a 32x1150-15

Are you sure it was a 16" rim, since it was in the #x#xR# format? But man those are some big tires, how much trimming would it require?

BFG Mud Terrain KM2's come in that size. 33X10.50X15. I was thinking that the narrower width would help with the rubbing. Before Dawn is coming over in the next week or so for us to put his locker in. I'll look at his 31X10.50's to see if the spots where his rubs are still there on my jeep. Even if they do, I think I could do it with a 4" lift.

Back to the front diff problem. I may try cutting a steel 30 down and having some bearings pressed into the ends. Then sticking it back in the Front. Worth a try for a couple hundred bux...

PS. BFG also makes their All terrains in that size if someone wants something a little less aggressive.

You're going to need to go up a lot more than 4" to squeeze 33's. IIRC Swamp Thing ran a 2.5" spacer lift in conjunction with a 2.5" Spring lift. He still had serious issues with rubbing. In my rear, I run OME HD's with a daystar puck, and my 32's on 4" BS/7" wheels still rub on the top, front, and back of the flares...

How were you going to mount the D30 once it was cut down? It has no provisions for the motor mount or cradle...

33x10.5's is for sure possible... i have 3.5 inches of lift and my 32x10.5 (265/75/16)'s do not rub at all in the front.. and with another .5 in of lift 33's would not rub either. so you could for sure get away with it in the front. in the back the problem is that the control arms suck the tires toward the front of the wheel well when lifted... i have about 3.5 in the rear as well and my tires only rub on the front of the wheel well but not enough to pop them off. if your alright with cutting the fender flair and inner pinch weld of the door in the back the 33's would clear without rubbing.

the only thing keeping me from 33x10.5's is not having 4.10's yet. when i do get 4.10's i'll be moving to 33.10.5's... with no rubbing.

As for Swamp thing, His were an inch wider. I'm thinking 10.50's. I can move the rear axle a little if I need to. I'd hate to have to do that though. I think with the 4" lift they would fit well. I agree that 4.10's (or bigger) would be advisable.

I know it doesn't sound like a lot of difference between 10.5's and 11.50. But it might make a difference.

Thanks for the heads up on it. I'll do some checking and measuring when Before Dawn gets over here.

On the cut down d30, I'll weld up whatever brackets I need. I have a plasma cutter and a welder. Sure it may not work, but I don't think anyone has ever really tried it. So it's worth it just to try it. What could it hurt? D30's are dirt cheap. And if I could cut them down and make them work, I bet there is a big market for them. Everyone hates the D30A, but a SFA is out of the reach of 80% of the members on here, even with Marty's pending kit. So I'll try and I'll probably fail and it'll cost me less than $200. I spent that much taking the family out to eat twice this weekend :)

On the trimming, I don't think he had much left on his front bumper. LOL I've gott all of that out of the way with my custom front bumper. I would probably have to cut the flares a little, but I will probably just make new ones anyway. Marty will be making a set for sale with his new SFA kit, so I can buy some of those. That's another option...

theres only one way to find out... and that's to do it. i'm going to put them on and do whatever trimming necessary to make them fit. you can tip toe around all you want.. .but you dont know until you do it. they call it 'a modification' to your jeep for a reason. i'm not shy.. and my jeep is beyond returning to stock now anyway. my D30a hasnt exploded yet.. and i'm almost positive i can find some 33x10.5's that weight less then my extremely heavy trxus MT's in 265/75/16

On cutting down a D30, one thing that I didn't consider is that it would probably need to be a LP D30. Otherwise there are major modifications needed. Not sure I want to try that. :( Darn Chrysler's aluminum housing! What idiot thought that would be a good idea?

Obviously not the same one that decided to take said vehicle with aluminum housing and notorious-for-failure balljoints, lift it, and put 80-lb-each wheel/tire assemblies at each corner

255/85/16 is actually 10" wide on 7" rim which is still not as wide as a 265/75/16 which need spacers to avoid rubbing on sway bar. I think it would work with aftermarket bumper. Of course everyone will jump in and say you need to regear or you'll blow up the front diff.[/quote]

JL Rockies has 235/85R16 on stock wheels and has rubbing on the sway bar.

I saw 33x9.50. It was essentially a truck on stilts.

My 265/75/16's on 7" rims only rub at full lock in reverse.
