I got a deal today I just couldn't pass up. Basically I was able to purchase a Dynomax cat-back SS sytsem (w/ Ultra-flo welded muffler) for $195.00 through a friend in the wholesale auto parts business. It was the last catback system for a KJ they had in the warehouse.

Meanwhile, I have a Flowmaster OR Diamond plate muffler that I have procrastinated to install. I already have the Dynomax connector pipe from the y-pipe to muffler, and a extended downturn tailpipe (about 8" in length) which I planned to install behind the Flowmaster muffler.

So now I need to decide which system to install. I'm thinking if I use the Dynomax system, the stainless muffler (which is oem size correct), will need a skid plate. I would obviously have to fabricate. It's too bad Flowmaster didn't actually make a oem replacement for the KJ. Then I could utilize both.

With that said, sound and the fact that the Flowmaster and (in this case) a 8" downturn pipe are not factors that concern me, as much as off-road function.

well, For what it is worth I think the Ultra flo sounds awesome, only problem is it is wayyy too expensive for me (starving college student).

I also think it will be less likely to get damaged off road as it is OEM size correct.

If you decide not to use the flowmaster/dynomax intermediate pipe, i would be willing to possibly buy them off you if the price is right.

I'd be willing to buy either of them!

I was about to get a thrush turbo welded muffler for $30 but i didn;t have the money at the time.

I've decided to mix & match. I'm going to use the Dynomax intermed pipe off the cats and then the Flowmaster muffler with the downturn aft the muffler. I may sell the Dynomax stainless steel muffler (second muffler pipe connector *Dynomax* to intermed pipe), and tailpipe? If I do, I'll post in the parts for sale forum. TBD...
