I liked my Silverstars........for a year.
I liked my Silverstar Ultras........for two years.
I liked my second set of Silverstar Ultras......for a year.

I am really hating pulling my grill and even though I like the brightness I think I might just go back to Halogens unless someone has a better suggestion. Anybody?

Why are you pulling the grille to change the headlight bulbs?

Silverstars are halogen bulbs, btw, just with a filer on the glass and burning hotter (that's why the life is short) to make up for the light lost to the filter.

I've heard lots of good things about Sylvania XtraVision. They're supposed to put out a little light than standard bulbs and last almost as long. You don't get the "cool" white look of the Silverstars but you won't be replacing them near as often.

Well I don't know about the gassers but on a CRD I pretty much need a transfusion after changing them with the grill on and reaching in the back, especially in the drivers side. Takes no time with the grill off and you need to take it off on a Limited '06 for the fogs anyhow.

Thanks for the tip. I will consider thw XtraVisions.

i had my first set of hella bulbs last over 2.5 years. and im guessing would have lasted longer had me not run into my friends house with the left front corner of my jeep, which, the left lowbeam burnt out a week later.

and my second set of those same hella bulbs, left one went out again after about 9 months. i ended up putting the spare right one into the left side, so now i have both working again. but i do like the hella bulbs color and light output, very happy with them. maybe i will try silverstar ultras next time. i have the silverstar ultras in all 4 of my rooflights :)

Mine have only been in for 6 months, which is how long it took my silversatr ultras to burn out. I do 90% of my driving at night. so my headlights get used...

A LOT! :-)r

Ive had my PIAAs in for over a year and no probs *touch wood*. I like them and I paid under $100 for mine at Lordco so I would assume prices prob cheaper ur side of the border.

i would hope its cheaper! there is no way i would spend 100 dollars on headlight bulbs, 40 is even too much for the pair of silverstars ultras or hellas haha. i wait till the Hellas are on sale at Advance Auto for about 37.99

Does anyone know what is the partnumber for the Hella XB headlamp bulbs 80w/100w?

I’m in South Africa and want to order it over the internet but struggeling because it seem to me there is 6 different part numbers for the 80w/100w globe. (HE-H71070201; HE-H71070282; HE-H71070327; HE-H71070382; HE-H71070387; HE-H71071052) :? .

Also would be nice if someone could direct me to a supplier and that offer the product for a reasonable price since our currency is very weak and the price for me is going to be multiplied by at least 8.

SA Jeepie The part number you want is H83175122 I work with these parts everyday, and personally own these bulbs

http://www.myhellalights.com/bulbs/Hell ... Bulbs.html

The part numbers you have seem to be the old Single Pack Sylvania lights Hella used too sell under there name.

:D Thanks a lot RED_KJ_666,

Not be able to find that partnumber on my internet shopping pages, but at least I know that I’ve got the rigtht part number according to Hella's catalog.
I’ll be off to my local spares shop to see whether I can lay my hands on these bulbs or whether I need to search further on the net.
Tx again

OK, I got the Sylvania XtraVisions as a current cost consideration. Compared to Silverstars they suck. I am tired of having to tear the Jeep apart to replace the darn things though. So I think I will stick with cheap and longer life and put some 130 watt or 100 watt KC's on the front instead. That way I can just flip them on when alone in deer country.

with two bumper lights you could run any wattage you want at any time you would normally be allowed to run fog lights. All the time
